Hi guys,
Whats your opinion on these dump valves that vent to atmosphere,ive heard there can cause fuelling problems.
So im thinking of switching from my blitz bov to the subaru re-circulating standard type. Im running at 1.2bar of boost on a MY94 STi would the standard bov cope with this boost? And is there any benefit going back to standard (Not bothered about the whoosh anymore,prefer the flat-4-noise now
)
Cheers Guys

I've just put mine back to standard having inherited a Blitz super swish bang cha cha cha effort. Quite frankly, it sounded silly and was detrimental to performance with hesitation at part throttle etc.
Look below - it's been done to death

theres alot of BS and theory talk around...
dont think i've ever read a post that says 'fitted a VTA valve, then the car went bang. garage said it was due to **possible vta problem**'
And of course, the people who call them 'chav' are the same who have STUPIDLY loud exhausts :P

I eventually put the standard one back on my car (even although I sold the car with the atmos. dv on for show.) Although I did not have any technical problems with the atmos dv, the car was not as smooth, particularly at motorway speeds. When you lifted off, the engine would instantly slow down causing a slight jerk. It did make the engine bay look good and if it is your thing, then you may also like the sound...........

I've still got my standard one on my MY01 WRX and I still get a slight psssshhhhtt when flooring it.
It's good because it's not like it under normal driving and isn't too loud but it reminds me that I'm going like the clappers when it does it

Since reading past threads on BOV's i took mine off and reverted to standard one and i also took off my HKS induction kit after sh****ng myself about all the hype and damage they can do

VTA will cause slight over-fueling when comming off throttle under-boost.. This isnt really an issue though, and could even help cool the cylinders.
A double piston VTA which basically has a hollow outer "release" piston with a smaller inner piston pushing against the inlet at all times (opened only when under load/boost), will prevent iratic idle problems.
