You need specialist equipment to powder coat wheels, it's not a can of aerosol and a heatgun.

Usually the paint is electrostatically charged to make the paint and the surface react, then baked in an oven, the oven process then creates a reaction depending on the type of paint.

Job for an expert, not a Halfords special I'm afraid.

My brother does welding and fabrication for a living and his lock up has the powdercoating tools and big baking booth etc, as he does it nearly everyday, but doing a set of wheels is a bit different to what he normally does, so I need a step by step guide so that we dont make any mistakes.

Log onto www.detailingworld.co.uk and in the traders section under juswheels theres a chap called MXYA - Mark who refurbishes all types of wheels. He should be able to give you a few pointers and he's only in Nottingham if you really get stuck.

There's not really any differece whatever your spraying, the process will be the same, just make sure you bake the correct time & temp for the particular powder your using.

Remove the original paint before powder as if there not powdered already they may blister as the paint underneth could burn as powder needs to be cooked at much higher temps 200 deg c ish (but work to the powders instructions)
