ive had a cam belt fitted and now ive got more whining coming from my power steering than i get from my girlfriend. ive been told that the belt would settle down. am i being flogged off?

Doesn't sound normal to me. Have you checked the fluid level? You might need to remove the msh filter inside depending on what model you have to get an accurate reading.

the fluid level is ok . believe me the noise dusnt sound right at all. the car is a 1997 turbo 2000

I did my cambelt last week, and when i refitted the powersteering/alternator belt, i obviosly did it a bit tight at first, odd noise i thought....... removed the belt, all quiet....Mmmmm put the belt back on slightly looser.... all is now well.... could be the belt is a tad tight maybe..... (hopefully!)

agree with RON - belt is probably too tight.

De-adjust it and see what it sounds like then

Yep probably too tight!

The other halfs WRX is making a noise at the mo, I've just done the cam belt and I think I nipped up the accessory belts a little too much, I'm banking on them stretching

as long as its not the cam belt to tight !! cos they can whine as well
