whenever i jack mine up, i go onto the beams that run under the car (don't know the technical name but they run about a foot in from the side skirts) axle stands fit nicely across these, though they did scrape off a little underseal when i took removed them (easily touched up again with a can of spray underseal)
don't know if this is the right place but iv never had any problems doing this on the scoob or any other car iv had.

find 3x3 timber
as the gentle man said but i would span a length of 3"x3 "timber across the chassis legs, ie door to door, these are the box sections either side of exhaust which run from the engine bay, down to almost centre of car or just past gearbox,be sure that your axle stand cups sit under the box sections with wood in between stand and car body, and car is in reverse with hand brake secured, why timber, cos if your stands have sharp edges they will cut in to chassis legs and if they have cups they have cups smaller than about 3 in" across they often crush your chassis and look for fuel lines and brake/clutch lines!!! REMEMBER IF IT DOES<NT LOOK SAFE IT PROBABLY ISN,T
