Default STI PPP Downpipe to WRX

Hi folks,

any truth in it?

cheers

I fancy doing the same (dependant on cost) but where do you get the part from and how much would it cost?

Sorry to hijack the thread.....

Cheers that's where I was looking. Nothing going at the moment.

Is there a subaru / prodrive branded (trying to keep my warranty) de-cat that will fit a MY05 WRX?

yes it is called PPP lol.

I'm sure even if you fit a prodrive one yourself it will void the warranty. Probably the only way to keep it is to get PPP. If you fancy risking it then a second hand STI PPP exhaust is the way to go and I doubt subaru would have that much of a problem with it. The trouble is you will need a remap to go with it and that wouldn't be official!

Hi, just done this mod myself to my WRX PPP, got STI PPP Down pipe and tried to fit STI decated Up pipe, Down pipe will bolt straight on, but the turbo's are different, so some grinding needed to STI Down pipe, 15mm off flange so it fits flush. STI up pipe wont fit as it is too short, but i have cut mine in half and removed cat, then welded back together. Car now has better torque, and beleve it or not misses says its better on fuel

Have you has any probs like CEL lights after fitting the STI PPP DP?

will any de cat centre cat fit in aswell?

will eventually get a remap but was wondering if i would see any gains fitting the DP now without remap (obviously not as much)

Not sure on the cel lights. Wouldn't think so though but mine was mapped at the same time.
You will see some benefit but a map is HIGHLY recommended as you will have a much freer flowing system than before so you might run into boost/fuelling problems. Others can give you more details on this than I can though.

Just about to fit My sti PPP downpipe to UK300 PPP, was exactly did you need to grind away at?. Was it straight forward, did the heat shield go back on okay.

hi nigel s,
You may find that the flange on the sti ppp cat wont fit flush when bolted up. There is a piece of steel sticking out proud of the flange, grind with angle grinder around 15mm off the height of it so flange sits flush. As 4 the heat shields sti ppp cat should be wrapped in heat proof lagging around the cat part, this will be more than ok. would defo change the up-pipe for de-cat 1, or you wont notice much differance.

The lagging jacket around the cat was a stock item on the PPP cat down pipe, if you aint got that, get some heat proof exhast wrap, most Rally spairs shops will have it.
Best of luck!!
