a true uk turbo or fake sti ???
right people. as far i know i thought i had a uk turbo 99 sti.
sti because the dials have the symbol and the lights the short throw gearbox and a few other bits.
uk because all the windows are kite marked and the fuel cap restricter is done plus the chassis no. is ...gc8k... which i got told was a uk version.
and one of u guys said the the sti was only available as a jap import from that year at 260-280bhp depending if its a red top.
my last problem i believe it to be a uk is the power. feels like 215bhp not 260-280bhp.
can anyone shine nelight on my slight problem please and whats the best way to find out for sure.

There was no uk sti in the classic shape.
If it is an is a MY99 sti, it will have a red intake manifold, single stainless backbox to name but a few. Check out www.wrx.co.uk to confirm.

ok so it could possible be an australian sti. which would explain the kite marked windows and the kph clocks but still dont explain why the power is down and feels like an 215bhp uk version. gonna have to get it dyno'd. how did u mean check the engine number on that website????

Look on 2.1.1 "Japanese Production Runs". I meant the applied model code on the VIN plate.

Have a look under the carpet on passenger footwell .Then remove metal shield for ecu .If it got ae800 801 802 then it has 215bhp thats what the my99/00 uk turbos had for ecu or go on ecutek website they list the ecu's for uk ,sti from 99onwards

There is a RR in Limassol. After passing Elite motors on your right you go through a set of traffic lights on a left hand bend follow the road round and I think it is at the next set of lights on your left hand side. If memory correct it is called Pole Position and usually has a couple of rally cars in front or in the window. I have not used them or heard of anyone using them whilst I was out there. Steve
