502bhp was the only proven power output, from a time the car was running around 10.7s 1/4 mile times (without nitrous).

In your opinion what would it need to record the figures it did? I reckon on Six hundred plus minimum.

If you play about with the 1/4 mile predictor for the 9.81, if I were to guess 800 HP all in I doubt I'd be over 10% out. You need some serious HP and PTW to get to 210 in that short distance

Okay Paul, i want to build an engine capable of nine second quarters and two hundred plus miles an hour. My car of choice is a classic Impreza what sort of power do you think I need?

The honest answer is I don't know All I really care about is getting the best performance from the parts that are fitted and I find 1/4 mile acceleration times and top speed to be a better measure of this rather than a rolling road figure.
Even if I did take it to a number of rolling roads I would just get a number of different results
It is however one of the most frequent questions I get asked so I may just take it for a rolling road test this year.
FWIW the on board Apexi RSM that I use for tuning showed 670bhp (without N2O) last year but I've no idea how accurate that is.

If the actual figure was somewhere near to that then that would pretty amazing,
It would be great knowing you had, and owning a 4 door family saloon with more BHP than something like a McLaren F1

When youve had it mapped etc have you opted out of a rr reading? Or do you not map on a rr?

It would be better knowing that you accelerated a lot faster than a McLaren F1 Although 4 door might be stretching it a bit

And IMHO you should just keep on doing things the way you're doing them...times and actual real performance where it counts are more important than power figures. There's no two ways about it - any road car that can run the quarter in the nines is far BEYOND just fast.
