WR1 alarm stopped working
My remote key alarm just stopped working. I can still deactivate the alarm using the keypad, but I'm not sure how to activate the alarm using the keypad with some sort of delay to get out the car. I've fiddled with the battery in the key to check the contacts but anyway the battery was replaced in the last service. The immobiliser still appears to work. What could be the issue here please?

Hi
It's a standard IM-fitted alarm. I have the key which gives remote arming & locking. Also there is a keypad in the car to manually over-ride. After finding my spare key last night & more testing, it now appears that my main key is buggered. The alarm can be set fine using the spare key, but not the "main" key.

Subaru dealer can reprogramme key as this happened to mine. It was done free with service but only took them half an hour so cannot be that much. I am sure though that there is something in one of Manuals u get with car that tells u how to do it using keypad to reset fobs.

I called the dealer first & they said that they didn't know what was wrong, but that they around charge £35 to fix it. They said it wasn't covered by the warranty.
Today, I just checked my manual. The first thing I saw was that the key needs a CR1620 battery. Remembering that the dealer (Vale Motors in Wincanton) who we will call "Useless gits", replaced the key battery on it's last service in December (£6.99 + VAT thank you very much), I checked the battery type in the bust key. It's a CR1616. Checking the battery in the working spare key, it's the correct CR1620. The CR1616 is a little smaller & is the same 3V as the CR1620. However the CR1620 is 75mAh, thereas the CR1616 is 55mAh.
Can any electronics expert tell me if this would break the key?

Happend to me a few weeks ago got to work and key fob just stoped working,
Replace the battery, put the key in with the iggn on press the button 3 times take the key out then do it again 3 times with the iggn on, then lock the door then reopen it with the fob, it worked for me, the keyfob didnt work straight away when i changed the battery i had to do this first.and its still working ok.
