Picked up my first Scooby today....... OH MY GOD!!!! This car ownz
It's a red MY97 with prodrive exhaust, 16" gold alloys and quickshift and I love it! The sound..... ooooh the sound It's gonna take me a while to master this bad boy, it's caught me out once already and I thought I had over-cooked it but it's superb roadholding did it's stuff. It's my first turbo and I'm gonna have to learn how to handle power when the turbo gets spun up, especially when halfway round a roundabout
Thanks for the help some of you guys gave me when I first registered here, I appreciate it

you must have seriously provoked it to get it out of shape.
In my old MY98 I could only really get the back out on public roads if I went flat to the boards halfway round roundabouts (which I experimented with for scientific purposes only). Trouble is I no longer live anywhere where I can find any suitable roundabouts.
Other than above, I bottle out long before the car does.

Welcome to the family.
I've had mine for almost a month (MY99 5 Door), and apart from getting used to not booting it from cold, I'm well impressed.
The grip is amazing, and I've only jumped sideways once when taking a bend to quick. You'll soon learn to drive it.
I took it down to Dorset last weekend. On a rounabout I know well near a place called Tower Park, an 'S' reg M3 tried to take me on the inside. I've not really boot the 'Scoob' in 1st since I've had her, but this time I saw red. Got up to 65mph in 2nd, when the engine limiter felt as if it kicked in, enagaged 3rd .... whoosh .... and then 5th at 100mph. The M3 was way behind.
I was shocked. This car is fast, very fast. I just hope my heart can take it ;-)
Enjoy.

I took a bend that I was unsure of in one on a Test drive and thought halfway round the bend Oh B****x it's not going to go round (although it would have!) backed off and started to go sideways V quickly towards white van man. I was well impressed that when I wound on some oppo lock and booted it she just sat her ar$e end down and straightened up. Scared me Sh1tl355!!!!

IMHO
It has to be the best/most fun 4/5dr 'everyday use' car for £ 21K new.
Mine still puts a huge smile on my face everytime i climb behind the wheel. My other half took it to work the other day - 80 mile round trip, she called me 4 times during the journey to tell me just how good/fun it was.

I've had my new scoob for 3 weeks now, and I'm having my first "Grin removal" operation next week, the surgeon says that if I drive the vehicle after this operation the damage could be irreversible............
I'll take my chances!!!!
have fun!

The Carlton did it's job, and well I might add, but after all these post on this thread about 'Grins' etc, I think it's time you dumped the 'Jelly Mold' and got a 'Scoob'.
Who knows you might even start to 'Grin'
