Fifth Gear don't like Impreza's

Just seem to be winging about its looks and interior mate. Most critics have always disliked the plastic interior and the ugly face but we dont buy em for those factors anyway.
If we wanted a beautiful car the we'd probably buy something italian like the new Alfa GT...... but then we want it to not break down before we get it off the driveway either.
IMO beauty is in the eye of the beholder and as far as performance vs value for money i think you'd be hard pressed to beat an impreza.

I've always had the impression that whilst sometimes entertaining, Fifth Gear was the broadcasting version of AutoExpress.........
Although I do agree with the styling, still not convinced.

The review says it's a good car but past it's sell by date, which when you consider the age of the design it surely is.
The point is that these days you can have good styling, nice interior and still get a good drive. Times have changed but the Impreza hasn't much.
It doesn't mean it's crap, merely that the game has moved on.

they are just saying what the rest of the public thinks. It's only the Impreza drivers with their heads in the sand who cant see that the car is now considered a joke by the public even if the car is a great drive.
It's not 1999 anymore guys!

And at the back there are now clear-look rear lights, similar to those more often found of tuned Citroen Saxos and (in addition to the usual boot-mounted razor blade) a smaller, secondary wing that clings to the top of the rear screen. Subtle, it ain't.

And so, were getting back to the paranoid/past it's sell by date posts ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
The shock being is that those with an influence over the idiot car-buying public are expressing the same opinions.......
The key thing is to try and not take the review to seriously...... you guys like it. On a Subaru forum, that's all that really matters, isn't it?

Read the whole report:
'And if you get the boss Impreza into its natural environment - a quiet, flowing country road - it's still one of the most talented cars we've driven. And it's not just about the acceleration, braking and grip - impressive though they are. With its characterful engine, meaty steering and benign cornering manners the Impreza is a far more charismatic prospect than the faster but less emotionally involving Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX FQ-340. If you live and work in the middle of nowhere and can afford the insurance, servicing and sub-20 mpg economy that comes with hard use (not to mention the occasional speeding fine) then it's still easy to make a case for the STI.'

I've petitioned the Ch5...........

I have a question for all the Impreza knockers out there.
I am a total rally enthusiast, normally going to see 6-7 WRC events a year. Have been following them for 20+ years since I started going with my Dad, who was also a rally driver. I like the cars and the Subaru team in particular.
Can you recommend me any other cars based on my interests that I can buy today and that are high performance, 4wd and have kudos in the rallying world?

I have my own opinions of so called "TV Experts", its worth remembering that what they say and express is only their opinion. Ive just moved back to a scooby after a while away trying out an Evo 8 FQ300. Had 4 scoobies in the past, and have to say, good as the evo was, it just doesnt have the same fun factor.
Sod the critics!!

ps I'm not an "Impreza knocker", just a realist that grasped that whilst I loved my 2 Scoobs, there are better cars out there. Don't get me wrong, I love Scoobs, and would like to get another for track days.

That review is probably the most honest automotive review of the Impreza I have read for quite some time. Looks like they've woken up and smelt the coffee. The good points vs bad points sum it up well. ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
except for this:
yeah...right ![Lol1](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/lol1.gif)
Interesting to note that this is a review for a £27K RRP car
There's a lot of very good alternatives you can get for that much money. The EU import WRX at a mere £15K makes far more sense finanacially IMO.

except for this:
25.9 mpg

In all fairness, I used to get about 25 mpg out of my Classic.............
(when it was on the drive!
) - no, really - used to get this type of mpg, until I "made progress"
