Default power increase

a friend of mine currently has a jdm impreza turbo running roughly 260bhp and would like to see it up around the 300(ish) bracket, how much would he need to spend and what would he need to upgrade/replace to achieve it.

thanks

presume its a classic wrx, year dependant (few variations though the years)

i should think, decat, pannel filter, remap. £1500 ish

then possible items, turbo, injectors fuel pump, FMIC if these are needed prob around £4k ish

afaik jdm 94 wrx are rated at 240bhp. remember though that the bhp is quoted on jap fuel not uk fuel so you'll have a different bhp rating. must be a couple of mods to get 260 bhp. don't forget that engines loose power the older they get and the more miles that they gain.

if i was aiming for 300bhp with my 94 wrx i'd look to fit an aftermarket ecu, apexi etc, as i think that the early ecus are self learning and cost rather a lot to remap. the ecu would be in addition to the decat downpipe, decat centre section, backbox, equal length headers and panel filter that i've already got. would also look at uprating the intercooler and changing the turbo and injectors. all very well getting the bhp figure you want but also need it to be reliable.

My mate has a 94wrx and with an Apexi Power FC,uprated headers and an HKS induction kit made 310bhp and 280lbs/ft torque(on Roger Clark rolling road)
The power FC and uprated headers were already fitted when the car was imported a few months ago but check Jolly Green Monster for ecu and remap (www.jollygreenmonster.co.uk) costs about £800 he remapped my mates car

is that all the mods? no decat centre or downpipe plus aftermarket backbox? i could be tempted to go for an apexi if i keep my classic.

Hi all

I've got a '95 classic, so i started with 260 bhp, its a JDM imported with green panel filter and cat back exhaust system, which was fun, but i've now fitted Japspeed headers with up-pipe (a pig to fit), API decat downpipe, API flywheel/clutch as i was changing the clutch anyway..!! and ok i admit it a Bailey DV36 dump valve..
and an APEXI ecu with Dawes valve were fitted and mapped by API... Oh and i also fitted a uprated Walbro pump for good measure....
Torque-up lots, boost up to 1.1 bar, power-up lots..!! big smiles every time i drive it..!!!

and the best bit..it'll run happily on UK 97 fuel, or even 95 if you retard ignition and cannot get anything else..!!

only problem is its highlighted weak coil packs..!!!

As they say...don't delay....do it today..!!
