Picking up an 02 STI tonight anbd after the experiences I've had trying to find a good one I'm suspicious of everything!
Typing in the number plate today while looking for insurance quotes keeps bringing up the car as an Impreza WRX AWD as does the HPI check and not a WRX STI like it does with other number plates (i.e. other cars for sale I've keyed in!)
Does this sound like a problem.
The only thing I didn't notice on the test drive was if the car had a 6 speed box, everything else is as it should be like
Brembo Callipers
STI Intercooler
Red intake manifold
Seats and interior.
Surely too much work to make an STI copy and it's just a case of DVLA not keying the car in right?

What does the V5 say????.........It's amazing the amount of '**** ups' the DVLA make? The HPI wil only state what the V5 says.
Ask some guys on here if it is from the VIN number (or part VIN) as i'm sure it can be identified from that.
Phone the owner and ask if it is a 6 speed!
Remember it's better to have the cash in your hand, rather than buy a 'Lemon'

Chassis number is JF1GDBKH32G01****
Engine Number is EJ20*NW*C*
Does that help anyone?
Agree with you completely, I will walk away (Done that with 2 cars now, one clocked, the other CAT D which the guy tried to hide!)
Not in a hurry and won't walk into buying a Lemon! Need to know before we leave around 7 tonight!

About a third of DVLA records contain errors so it could just be that. Check the chassis numbers etc. In fact maybe if you do a google search on subaru chassis numbers or similar you will get a web site with the info? There are certainly people on here who can translate them into english as well :-)

Though it only has 2 owners before I get it. Usually imports have the importer or car shop as the first owner, then the purchaser and so on...
This one has 2 UK named owners so far
