It looks like the 7' 59" lap and it is done on production rubber - i.e. RE070s - they set out to do a lap in a Spec C that would break 8 minutes as a production car. Of course you might argue the RE070 is pretty much a semi-slick - it is certainly very sticky - and I have had mine squealing quite a lot on track

The car in the video is a standard MY05 Spec C Type RA although it does have adjustable suspension as standard.

It might look like one, but an RE070 is nothing like an R compound tyre, still a good tyre though.

He could go even faster on Michelin Pilot Sport Cups.

Just out of curiosity how far behind do you think an MY06 STI would've been??

They share the same rubber, the added mid-range of the 2.5 may also help and am I right in assuming that MY05 onwards the STI shares some the Spec C suspension changes up front. Sure I've read that somewhere

I am really not convinced that the 2.5 really offers any mid-range responsiveness over the twin scroll ball bearing turbo 2.0 - certainly my Spec C is very strong in the mid-range and subjectively competes with the 2.5.

Also the Spec C Type RA has very different adjustable suspension is quite different to the STI. The MY06 STi and Spec C are a lot closer in spec - but not the same as the MY05.

In terms of time I suspect Pugg is about right.

I thought that might be the case with the Twin Scroll. I think one of these is worth investing in IMO. Might go for the IHI/Garret hybrid that's used on the Type 25.

Thanks for that also. I knew I'd read it somewhere about there being a carry over of Spec C parts to the STI but just couldn't remember what MY it was on.

As for you all, glad you enjoyed the vid.

One of the best laps I've ever seen around the 'Ring was done by a guy testing the Honda S2000 prototype. Does it with the roof down, giving commentary all the way round about how the car is responding and all whilst wearing what look like a pair of Brogues shoes (and he heel and toes in them!!) and he really does rag the car by the scruff of the neck.

Of course.... some Spec C's are quicker than others. Especially in the handling and mid to top end range on the roads!

Think there would be some reshaped Armco if I tried anything approaching those speeds

Will pop over to NL for a bit more viewing.

Downloaded this to show a couple of the lads in work who are going to The 'Ring in Sept with me but it stops after about 1min 10secs and a coupple of other times as well,if you use the time bar to move it on it picks up later on in the lap.
Has anyone else had the same problem?

cheers
