I want to know if a UK example classic is easier to drive around town - with less power ..
- does it have a different clutch..??

Had a STi Type R then went to a UK blobeye, like chalk and cheese.
UK a piece of p1ss compared to rawness of the STi.
Not the comparsion as newage cars are also put together much better as well over classics.

MY00 UK turbo never missed a beat... was spot on and went well... swapped for a MY98 STi type R in june last year... BHP in he higher 300's... 2 months of joy and pop!!!... soon to be reborn with alot more power... been saving for a while now... cost me a fortune... but the type R goes like a t**t... you just can't stop driving it... it just wants to go...

just sold my 96 turbo to buy a P1 and the drive is much the same around town, but when you get out of town the P1 handles better and goes better. the clutch feels the same, cant tell you about running costs and such stuff coz ive only had it 3 weeks.

Had a WRX import, then RB5, and now MY05 STi
Loved everyone of them. All seemed fine around the town, no problems at all.
Hard to tell about the clutch , but i think you'd only have any bother around town if it had been uprated, making it stronger/ heavier, which non of mine were.
Also depends i suppose on how you drive it around the town

Had a MY99 UK turbo as a Co Car, and it was great
For 'recreation' have an Sti v3 97 and in stock form much the same but went much faster.
Now modified and much much faster, but rude in some areas....you wouldn't want to drive to France in it!

Had a MY00 Classic UK Turbo. Easier enough to drive around town etc... Then moved up to a MY03 UK STI without PPP. First impressions. Bit sluggish and very hard suspension. Also the Clutch is a lot heavier, so not a joy when stop starting in traffic. But apart from that a nicer drive when on the road with brakes to stop you. Now have PPP and Prodrive suspension fitted which makes it a little bit easier to manage.

The clutch on my UK classic (MY00) wasn't great - it juddered badly when it was cold and I seem to remember it being a bit sticky too. By contrast, the clutch on my '05 STI was light and smooth, very easy to use under all conditions.

Had an sti 5 (my99) and then a uk awd turbo my99.
not much difference at all when driving normally, but as soon as you get over 3k revs there is a big difference, the sti is much quicker to accelerate, turn in,stabalizing after going over speed bumps.
The sti is much better to drive around town in my opininion and the suspension being a little harder didnt make much difference either.
The uk had lower revs at high speed but I would still prefer the quicker response of the sti box.
Only thing better about the uk car is the cost of initial purchase, lower insurance (slightly),and the fact that
you can get a little more help from main dealers having a uk supplied car (although theyre still not much help).
forgot to add,AFAIK the clutches are exactly the same, and they all judder especially when cold.
