1994 price?
Hi,
I'm going to see a 1994 (L) WRX on Saurday, I'ts a fresh import from a delaer, it has 56000 miles and the only mods are a stainless steel exhaust and a different style front bumper, its up for £4500.00 ono, is this the sort of price a 94 model goes for and is there anything specific I should look out for as I dont know much about the Impreza's
Help would be appreciated.

Thats a lot more than you would pay privately.
I sold my M-Reg WRX last year for £4.2k, and they have come down a lot since then.

I bought a W-Reg MY00 couple of months ago for £5k, albeit with 95k miles.
£4.5k for an L-Reg seems way too expensive based on the prices above, but its at a dealer so up to you? Seem to be paying a lot more dosh for what - a crappy 3 month warranty?
For that money, I'd be tempted to buy something like the £3k one I linked to above, and put £1.5k in the bank

Thanks for your reply, I might go and have a look at it anyway as the dealer said he will listen to offers, he said its in fantastic condtion (as they do) and it actually comes with 1 years warranty which I guess isn't bad. I will keep on looking though!

It also depends what the car is like if it has been looked after and the engine is sound and the body is good it might be worth paying a little extra in the long run.

I have a mint My93 WRX-Ra with pedigree & it ain't goin nowhere for less than 7K as an absolute minimum.
Classic's are very under estimated, good 'un-blinged' examples will command decent prices very soon

£4.5k is WAY too much for a 94 WRX. Theres plenty about for £3k or less, and even at that price they arent selling that easily.

We paid £2,400 for this 1994 WRX with 75k
Spent a further £700 on tidying it up, mechanically and asthetically which included a new cambelt, set of new tyres and a de-catted exhaust system etc.
The second hand car market is screwed and has been for a long time, there are bargains to be had.

I should add, only buy a bargain like that if you've got the time, patience and skills to sort out the teething problems. If everything had been done buy official subaru dealers it would have probably cost in the region of 2-3k to put right lol!

would help though if the dealer had told us in the first place that the car was wanked and needed work on it. my honest advice is don't get your car froma dodgy back street dealer, even if it is advertised in the autotrader. it just isn't worth it. but there were some nice looking scoobies on their site this morning in your price range if you are interested in looking.

Thanks for all your comments, The delaer isn't far from me so I might as well go and have a look at it. He's been there for years and he only deals with Jap imports. He said he only imports the ones with low mileage and cars with small mods (alloys, exhaust etc..). . He say's it's mint, if it is I might make an offer, he can only say no

Yeah, I know, it does come with 1 years warranty which covers the engine and gearbox, i guess I have to have a look at the car but I just wanted you're opinions on the price first of all

I wouldn't pay more than 3K.. i sold my 93 WRX this year for less which was in perfect condition with me being the only UK owner since import (i had it 6 years!)... all the history etc with it. I'd pay 4.5K for a MY98/99 PPP not a ropey early jap import... i sold my MY98 PPP just after the 93 for less than 4k!!!

I would much rather buy a higher mileage one like yours with a much later year, than an older lower mileage one any day.
I would also rather buy one from here that has been looked after, than a dealer for that sort of money.
In fact thats exactly what I have done twice in the last three years!

Anyone looking for a good classic scoob will go that extra mile in paying for one.
Why it's so difficult to sell this type of vehicle is because so many people have been ripped off at somestage & tend to be very carefull.
So you buy an early impreza cause it's cheap, which 99.9% are knackered.
You end up spending a fortune getting it mechanically sound then another fortune bolting all-sorts of rubbish on, you end up with well over 6/7k worth of investment, just to have a near standard Scoob, then 10k worth of bling.
I'm confident with my classic & my thoughts on it's value!

Well if you want to live in cloud cookoo land that a 93 WRX RA is worth 7k then that's fair enough... i just think that is so hilarious!!
Having just sold a 'mint' MY93 WRX (owned by me for 6 years with full history and needing £0 spending on it!) and equally good MY98 PPP for less than you want for just the RA i can't hide my smirk. And selling those was bl**dy hard work at that price!

How about a 1999 wrx which has 53k miles on the clock, ex police car and has suffered cat d damage for £3.5k.....can you chaps tell me if this sounds like a good price?
