Does anyone on here own......
If anyone on here owns a blue STi with reg. starting EU02 Y** or knows who does, please PM me. If the last two letters match, I have some information you may like to know.

I have seen a new-ish blue Scoob today parked on a works car park, no tax, bald tyres 'edges' & pretty knocked about for a new-ish motor.
I have security investigating this, seen this a couple of times over the past few weeks, will have more info tomorrow.
It's got to be genuine i'm sure, it just screams 'check me out'

OK - I've had no reply, so the story is: My son Chris, owned this STi from new and when it was just a year old he was involves in a big accident when a little old lady in a Metro pulled out to overtake a car stopped in the road, waiting to turn right. The cars hit almost head on at a closing speed of approaching 90 (60 mph limit) The STi was very badly damaged and was, on inspection, immediatly written off by the insurance Co. (twisted main frame which Subaru do not supply as a replacement part)
The last we saw of the car was in a scrap yard in Cambridgeshire when we went to retrieve a few "bits" off it. That was three years ago.
Browsing the vehicle licensing website the other day, I punched in the reg. and lo and behold, the car is up and about and taxed until November! I just felt that the present owner, assuming he was unaware, had the right to know the history? On the other hand, if there is no problem with the car now and it was in one of the "repairable" categories and is therefore quite legal, maybe it would be a bit insensitive to tell him his car was once a wreck?

Licencing site http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/Evl...App/index.jsp#
No digi shots unfortunately. The full reg. is EU02 YDA and it was a Prodrive version of the bugeye STi
The old lady (in her 80's) was given a choice by the police to either surrender her licence or be prosecuted, she chose the latter and is, I guess, now driving about again - no doubt in another Metro! (The original one was cut in half to get her out!)

I now own one of these STI Pro-drives of which I believe 1000 were made, I would be interested in somehow finding out how many are still on the roads as I got cheaper insurance than the standard STI as it was limited edition.

As long as the repairs have been carried out properly then there will be nothing wrong with the car.
Had the engineer who carried out the inspection of the car decided to repair rather than pay your son out (probably cos these cars retain a high value as damaged and therefore the most cost effective route to take for him) then your son would be happily driving it and people wouldn't be saying "It's a Ringer!!!"
There is nothing wrong with a well repaired car.
people should not automatically assume that if a car has been damaged that "Phil and Grant" have "Ringed it".
