It's even further than Japan (more shipping) and you'll still have your VAT & import duty to pay. The only way it may work out cheaper is to lower the purchase receipt to diddle the VAT........ok until you get caught

Only a fool would attempt to forge the commercial invoice.... The question refers to the difficulty in registering 97> cars and in that respect theres no practical difference.

Very true Simon, our wonderfull labour government has cost itself absolutely millions of pound with the idiotic ESVA laws, there was nothing wrong with the 'disabled loophole' as the test was a little stricter in some respects. Just make sure whatever is imported after the said date does have a model report or make sure your garage space is free for a couple of years!!

Unfortunately not; not unless its a 'personal import' but HMC&E are completely on top of that..... You may be able to import one car that way but it really isnt worth it.
