Default clunking STi - any ideas ??

Hi Scoobynetters,

Have had my STI ppp (MY53) for a month or so.

A couple of weeks ago as I was traversing the twisties in the local area, I went over a hump and got airbourne as I was going round a lefthander, thus landing with lateral forces going through the car. When the car landed there was a big clunk which sounded like it came from the back end.

Today while giving it a really good thrash from Durham to Rothbury, round bumpy "A" - "B" roads I noticed a clunking noise again from what sounds like the rear end. It happens on poor road surfaces and when going over rumble strips.

The car has pro-drive springs fitted.

Is there something that usually breaks on Scooby's ??

It sounds like the near side rear of the car.

Does not sound like the exhaust catching on something and I don't have access to a pit until I get to work on Saturday.

Your advice would be appreciated.

Regards,
Graeme.

could be rear shocks, a common fault on these. Should be covered under warranty. Had both of mine replaced in the last six months, and am now awaiting the latest modified parts, as dealer were advised from Japan about 2 weeks ago.

How do I know ther shocks are knackered, am I looking for leaks or soggyness (difficult to identify with hard springs) ??

Are the drop links easy to identify ??

Thanks for the advice,
Graeme.
