Thumbs up

Is it tar? And dont use any severe alloy wheel cleaners because some of them are so acidic that they will badly stain your lovely brake calipers and wheel hubs permanently.

Arron, I know what it is.

I used to clean my T4 wheels with wonder wheels weekly for 2 years. One week, they looked dull, so I used Autoglym super resin polish and they looked wonderfull......Until I cleaned them the following week. I got a white residue just like you mentioned.

Try T-cut. With a light application, it should remove the residue.

Regards
Kurt

You could try using a clay bar type cleaner. They're supposed to be good at lifting crap off with damaging the surface.

I got one from Mark with my winter kit, but my wheels aren't shat up enough to have used it yet.

It sounds like the residue from the DS3000 pads. Absolute bummer to shift.

Stef.
PS Chucky, are you happy?

Use MER! it is water based so won't damage but shifts tar spot and other types of Krap.
Good luck...

The only way to keep your wheels looking clean is not to let them get too filthy in the first place.
There are no products which will take off weeks of grime effectively.
Wax Wizard is very very good [I use it], but if you allow a serious amount of filth onto your rims you are fighting a losing battle.
Try to get pads which do not throw loads of filth onto your wheels as well.

Question

Arron, do you have the Alcon kit? I have the same problem now. The WoW general purpose stuff doesn't work on it. Haven't had this prob before, when running DS2000 pads on my old set up.
My nails too are takin a hammering.

Yeah I'm happy! I'm gonna see just how much gunk I can deposit on the wheels on Friday.
I figured it was the 3000's. I'd heard of them effectively destroying a set of gold wheels in Europe , I had put it down to scaremongering, but this may be the straw that leads the camel to having it's wheels refurbished and painted Black. (I wonder how blue car wud look with black wheels? Hmmmm)
Cheers

Yes I do have the Alcon kit and it is brake related i`m sure.
Would love to know if anything will shift it.
The longest i`ve let them go without cleaning is 2 weeks.
Not long in my book and i`ve pollished the wheels with Autogleam super resin ****e twice cos I thought that might help.
Why couldnt they make the wheels like Skyline wheels??? They clean without any gunky crap.
Seems the wheels are just another annoying factor i`ll just have to put up with eh Prodrive!!!

Hey Chuck,

Yeah, that would have been me scaremongering, right ?

Well, maybe I wasn't then.

OK, I edited this because I don't want to cause any trouble. I'll email you instead.

Theo

I`m interested to see what a CLAY BAR is?
Wont acid fetch it off?
I did call and leave a message on your answerphone today.
Does a clay bar really mean a stick of bloody clay?

Aarron

We shut at midday as its so quiet at the moment.

A clay br is the common name give to this stuff but it is quite a complex formula. However the product is totally non toxic and is 100% safe for cleaning/removing contamination from paintwork (including that on wheels), wheels themselves and glass as well as plastic.

Common cleaning methods both for paint as well as wheels rely on on some chemical to dissolve the contamination or the use of an abrasive which can e expensive as well as time consuming.

Once yer wheels have been cleaned using yer regular wheel cleaner, you now find that you have many black specks that litter the wheel. Once you have sprayed the wheel with some lubricant one merely rubs the clay bar over the effected area(s) and hey presto the crap has gone, and then u merely wipe dry and buff. After that cover the area (wheel) with a good wax to prtect the surface and make future cleaning easier as well as quicker.

In the kit u get two clay bars and 500ml of lubricant and this kit is sufficent to "clay" between 5 to 10 cars completely!

Once u have used the clay bars I bet u wont look at anything else. They are soooo simple to use but the results are stunning.

A subaru dealer tried a kit a few weeks back and was so impressed they came back and bought a shed load as they now want to do every single car in their organisation including the out of town used car lot and they be based in South Wales.

Reference can be made to James Stevenson (SIDC) member who had a problem and was quoted £300 to have his car treated to remove all the factory fallout that had settled in his paint. He spent 20 quid and took the car to his South Wales Subaru dealer and now they have plenty of these kits for their cars.

Call me in the office twixt 0900 and 1200 or on my batphone on 0402 822544.

regards
Mark (WoW)
