Hi guys,
Never had an accident in my car for more than 10 years and only had two 'inexperienced' small bumps before that.
Ive just run straight into a post in a car park, it wasnt like the post was below my eyeline, my only excuse is i was strugling to see because the sun was shinning and was reflecting off the wet road surface too.
I was only doing about 5 mph but ive done a lot of damage, full bumper and slight front panel damage and the wing is slightly bent out.
I just sat there in the car flabbergasted for about 1 min with the engine still running (didnt even stall the car when i hit it)
how much do you reckon for repairs? (new front bumper, one fog cover, pull front panel bits straight and pull the wing back in (about 15 mm)) and painting of the front bumper. i hit right where the fog cover meets the bumper on the inside of the bumper on the offside of the car.

Thanks for the sympathy, not going to post a picture as its too painfull to look at the front of my car to do so.
Waiting for quotes to see if im going to claim under insurance or not.
Im guessing £500+ (i bet its about £250 just for the unpainted bumper)

never had a crash or kerbed a wheel in 13 years of driving.
buy my dream car, a mint RS6, drive straight from the dealers to brighton for the day like the cat that got the cream, promptly gouged a lump out of my rear 19" alloy in a multistorey car park
I felt physically sick for about 2 hours.

Sorry to hear of the damage to your car mate. I hope it gets fixed promptly and doesn't cost an arm and a leg! We all make gaffs, nothing to be ashamed of!
Good on everyone for admitting their gaffs!
I well remember the feeling when I reversed up to the kerb outside my GF's place (something I'd done perfectly well a hundred times before) only to hear the scrunch of a nicely painted gold alloy hit the unforgiving concrete!
I'd like to blame the rear three-quarters visibility out the Scooby, but -regrettably- if I'm being honest the problem wasn't with the car, it was with the plonker behind the wheel i.e. me. I just wasn't concentrating hard enough!
I kicked myself for about 3 days after and just had to get it fixed cause it was bugging the hell out of me!

We all make stupid mistakes!
A couple of months ago I was in a real hurry and a bit stressed out, had to park in the local Waitrose to nip into the precinct, it was early afternoon on a Saturday and the carpark was PACKED! but I spotted one lowly empty space, I thought I'll quickly get this space so I swiftly reversed in.... My heart sunk as I heard a tiny little chirp like a gasp for breath from my reversing sensors before I hit the post in the middle of what I thought was a space. Luckily I was driving my Omega which is built like a tank, got a slight crack of paint on the bumper and its a little deformed but nothing serious, the post however looked a bit worse for wear.

Feel for you, its such a painfull moment when you realise what you have done and even worse when you look at it!
One evening Several years ago in a moment of temper I reversed rather swiftly out of a parking space, the car park was near enough empty, and yes I managed to reverse into the only lamp post in the car park!
nice big v down the back of the car, to top it off 3 days later i reversed into a post at the local supermarket!
thankfully it was not the scoob that suffered but i gave up reversing for a while.
Hope you get it sorted for a reasonable cost.

Desided to put it through my insurance, gona cost me £350 access, 1st estimate was a bit low i think i would have ended up paying about £750 for it and also the post i hit is damaged (but still standing straight) so they may claim off me too.
Been hiding my car in the corner of the car park at work, but ive been rumbled and now there all pointing and laughing
Ho hum, at least it wasnt a kiddie i hit.

Glad to hear you are getting the car repaired. I had a bit of a bump in my old Scoob. Basically it was parked outside work and one of my colleagues kindly placed an 8`x4` piece of MDF on the side of the building on a very windy day. Yup the wind blew it onto my n/s mirror and door. Completely taking off the mirror and leaving a few dents in the door as well. Sick as **** I was. To cut a long story short, took it to Pulleyns they made a brill job and my work payed for the repair.
Anthony
btw each time the Scoobs due a service I get the wife to take it in, the Fabia is not my scene.

Update time
Well ive got a scooby with a proper front bumper now
Heres some piccies of the damage:
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1.../Scooby001.jpg - i couldnt find wr blue tape
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1.../Scooby002.jpg - bit that caught the worst of it
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1.../Scooby003.jpg - you cant see it, but the light mountings are broken and it also pushed the wing out.
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1.../Scooby004.jpg - all broken bits removed
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1.../Scooby005.jpg - not sure exactly what is being painted here
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1.../Scooby006.jpg - new shinny bits (well not so shinny )
Am i happy with the result, yes and no - they got the paint match very good but for some reason the corner pieces of the bumper seem to match differently even though neither was painted, it might be that the drivers side of the new bit is slightly darker but that would seem a little unusual, its probably just my eyesight
Also had a rattling/looseness feeling while driving and found the undertray flaps wide open, from the pics it does'nt look like they needed to take the under tray off but to have both front flaps open simultaniously is a bit remote.
and lastly im not sure the light (beem direction) is now facing the way it was before the work was done (seems a little low and to the right)
Overall i think i would recommend pulleyns at this point, freindly, curtesy car, does what they say they'll do etc.
i'll try and add a pic of the completed car when i can get my camara back off the girlfriend.
Question: it looks like its a design flaw in the mounting system, but does your bumper 'jiggle about' if you pull it from the bottom?

More piccies:
Finished product, you can see the overall paint colour is good
http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...t=DSCF1113.jpg
But this bit:
http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...t=DSCF1110.jpg
and this bit:
http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...t=DSCF1109.jpg
Arent the same colour (camara doesnt really pic it up)
Also the looseness hasnt gone away, but ive found that, its the fact that the inner wing of the repaired side isnt joined to anything (stood just moves in and out)
