If you had the head gaskets replaced, any decent mechanic would have replaced the rocker cover gaskets as well.
Take it back to him and get the job sorted.

If it isnt the rocker cover, could be the oil pump seal has gone - its very hard to find out where oil leaks are coming from without getting it up on a lift, cleaning all the leaked oil off, then checking to see where its coming from ( because the oil spreads itself around the bottom of the car, so doesnt always end up where its coming from ! ).
If it is the oil pump, cambelts will probably need changing as well as they could be contaminated - will be cost around £400 at a dealer for everything.
My oil pump seal went, and the oil found its way along to the exhaust cover and burnt off there, but the rocker gaskets were fine and no oil was leaking from there.
He really need to get it into a garage and find out exactly where the oil is coming from - if the cambelts have been contaminated there is a slim chance they could snap, which would end up needing an engine rebuild, which is a lot more expensive than getting it fixed now.
Dont suppose your bf has considered getting the car resprayed yellow has he ?

Could be any number of things.....
Had the occasional puff of smoke from the bonnet on mine and it turned out to be the water hose from the turbo to the header tank leaking. The water was dripping onto the hot turbo and instantly vapourising, think it's the anti-freeze that makes it smokey. Anyway drip turned into full on leak so had to replace the hose.

I think he'll be best off getting it to a garage asap so he can find out exactly what is wrong - we can all offer ideas of things it might be, but not say with any certainty.
In any case, cars arent supposed to smoke from under the bonnet - it may be something that costs a tenner to fix, it may be something that could soon lead to the engine blowing - so get someone who knows what they are doing to have a proper look at it.
