Default THANKS Crown Prosecution Service !!!!!

Some of you may remember but back in 2002, my previous Impreza was hit outside my house [Hard enough to break the Oz wheels against the kerb] ***** ****** promptly dumped his Rover accross the road and did a runner

After not a lot of investigation and a few witnesses ***** ****** was tracked down and charged with

Keeper of a vehicle failing to supply information as to the drivers identity as required to do so on behalf of Chief Constable of Police

Failing to stop after an Accident

and

Failing to report an accident

Yesterday I received a letter from the CPS saying they had dropped the case due to lack of evidence !!!!!!!!!!!

4 years later FFS

Yet another waste of police and my time

Not unusual though, been a witness/victim of crime a few times and the CPS have dropped the case due to lack of evidence. No-one is more frustrated than the old bill after they put the man hours in.

A few years back, someone ran into my car on the front of the house during the early hours of a Friday morning and did a runner, it wrote the car off. I rang the Police at nine in the morning when I found out and at five in the evening someone rang to say they were ver y busy and would be out later. Well guess what no one ever turned up, they evetually rang me on Monday and gave me a crime number over the phone!

Police were good as gold

Thanks to Rayleigh Traffic they found him

Nearly trapped him myself when he tried to get his car back the following day [couldn't start it because someone had relocated the HT lead to the boot ]

Was able to give a clear description but NO not good enough for the CPS

Sorry to hear about this mate, this kind of thing makes me f**king angry TBH. I appreciate that I'm not privy to the facts, but there was apparently witness statements, including one from you, obviously physical and documentary evidence etc.. Surely that would mean there is a case to answer in court?!?

Perhaps they'd have been more interested if there had also been a speeding charge made against him?

Just a thought!

I had a similar incident around 3 years ago on christmas eve.

Some delivery guy bounced off a curb and hit my escort cab door.
2 witnesses and paint, both on my car and his van.

Trip to the police station and 4 weeks later a letter "insufficient evidence"

I think they mght use the insufficient evidance thing for not economically viable, as we need all the money to for the big high profile cases.

Phil you forgot to mention your headline in the local Rag...."Fed Up Phil"

Nothing quite like lots of publicity for something to be dragged out and eventually swept under the carpet but 4yrs blatantly takes the p!55

Thanks to your new drive it made fitting the wheels to my Forry a lot safer tho

I deal with the CPS frequently, believe me the POlice get as frustrated with them as everyone else, they are now target based, and unless they are sure they will gt a conviction they will not persue a case, it's getting worse as well.
I honestly believe that we will get to a point where if someone doesn't plead guilty the CPS will pull a case.
