And if they ever did realese it theres no way in gods earth it would be £40k, imagine the production costs of the electronics alone, not to mention active diffs, AP brakes, trick engine etc etc

it sounded great with the anti lag. but it does make me think that thats one or the reasons why they dont want to make because the engine, turbo, exhaust system will not last long with it on.

Just fit the ATD system to the impreza and it won't be far off.
I drove an early version of the electronic diff system on a JDM bugeye sti at their test track a couple years back and it was astonishing even then.

That cone test was amazing - 30mph with it off before understeer and 50+ mph before Clarkson lost his lunch?
Is it good though? Any **** can drive it fast, true skill and experience will count for nothing (well, not as much anyway)
As for mass production - it will never happen. The costs involved are astronomical and they couldn't risk even the slightest risk of failure, that would be the end of them.

What does that mean exactly, where will it count for nothing?
Great looking car, but as others have said it's the electronics that are the real difference between current Impreza and the P2.
BTW what the **** is Anti Lag?

Martin, anti-lag is a way of keeping the turbo spinning at it's most efficient to keep boost pressure up whilst changing gear as the turbo would naturally slow down at this point as there's less air going through the system when you drop the clutch and the engine slows for a moment...
There's a few ways of doing it - burning fuel in the exhust pipework before the turbo, pressure reservoirs etc.
The crackling / banging noise you get on rally cars when they change gear is generally anti-lag systems

With the power and (lack of) weight, it should be good for another 3-4 seconds off the time.
Maybe perverse but what I want is the P2 running gear in the crappy city car they based it all on. Complete with 650cc 12V stickers.

Would like to see the mpg and g/km for an anti-lag equipped vehicle. Burning fuel to keep the turbo spinning when you might not need it, and blowing flames out the exhaust has to be bad news for the environment

Great looking car.... with so much promiss...
It is indeed a shame there are "no plans " to manufacture it... Prodrive may not necessarily have the resources to devote to producing & selling the car, but Subaru have....
Come on Subaru - It's a cracking car..... Build it for us....

Prodrives ANIT Lag system is not the robust mechanism it has been on other systems. I was speaking to a ex-prodrive mechanic and his oath of secrecy didn't permit him to say much, but it is in fact "positive lag" and his mannerisms as he proceeded to baffle me suggested that it really was a trick bit of kit
