Default Motorbike Number Plate On A Scoob

I currently have a small (motorbike plate) on the front of my car.

I've just bought a personalised plate and need to obviously get some plates made up.

I intend to fit a FMIC and want to keep the airflow as good as possible but I get a few coppers point to it evey now and again.

What could be the worse the police can do?

Is it just a case of "change your plate or next time I'll book you"?

What can I expect if I do get booked?

Thanks in advance

The number plate is a specific size and typeface for a reason.

The £30 fine is the worst they can give you, and as for taking your plate away from you, that is only in the case of people who distort numbers and letters to make them look like something else, not for people who have differently sized plates.

It's illegal. Number plates are there to help identify a car/driver - eg. at the scene of a hit and run. - which is why they are of a specific size and typeface.

yea thats true, as long as yours are the right size etc you have nothing to worry about bike plates are easy to read or they wouldnt be legal on bikes

Surely you not claiming that 'bike' plates are easier to read?

Bikes cannot accommodate larger plates safely, hence they are smaller.

There is no such thing as a front bike plate.....

Take it what you mean is that you have square front and rear number plates with characters and spacings that comply with the legislation?

Bike plates are not smaller per-se.... they are a different shape however the characters are the same dimensions as car plates

Yeah but a car plate can legally be, say 220mm wide as opposed to the regulation 520mm, if it consists of say 2 characters
Much smaller than a bike plate!

So you have a square yellow plate on the front of your car, cos thats what a bike plate is!

I can't believe the old bill have let you drive past with a yellow front plate?

Then surely it makes more sense to have a correctly sized number plate on a car?

what if a member of your family was knocked down in the street in a hit&run by someone using small plates and the police were unable to identify the culprit due to witnesses not being able to read the plate?

I got a £30 fine on the way back from Scotland for having the below plate. They said I was taking the ****. I just removed it completely and haven't been bothered since. If I do get stopped, I'll just say it fell off. An accident vs knowingly breaking the law

Exactly the same thing applies to a bike as they have no front plate either.

There is a big difference between a bike and a car! If it was feasable to have car size plates on a bike I'm sure the govt would require it.

the lettering size on bike plates is legal, no? it can be read as clear as day mate. the car has never been pulled for it and has passed many mot's with em. pretty sure number plate condiction is part of an mot?? has also been picked up in london on congestion charging cameras where you can clearly see the number plate, if someone couldnt read it they would need an eye test

You cannot read a smalller illegal typeface as far away as you can with legal typeface.

Then again you have some people driving around without front plates

i agree with most of what you say, you can say it about most things... have you ever broken the speed limit? how would you feel if a speeding scooby driver knocked down someone? we all have at some point bent or broken laws. all im saying is as im sure the plates are not legal, they are clear, can be seen very easily. loads of laws are broken on modded cars, some you wouldnt even know about..lights are best for that. how many people on the road these days use 100w headlight bulbs?? anyway rest assured mate they really aint that small..nothing like the pic above
