Yes, I remapped my 51 plate wrx and it's a totally different car to drive (for the better!). I'd fit the following parts at the same time (before) the remap.
It's also worth considering taking out your up and down pipe cats (if finances allow). This will save you a bit of cash for a subsequent remap if you decide to take them out later.
This will give you aroung 280+bhp and 270+lb/ft torque (AFAIK)
- Performance back box (H&S, TSL, Vortex, etc)
- Performance panel filter (HKS, GREEN, etc)
- Optional - upgrade fuel pump (Walbro 255)

Do it Phil, it will completely transform the driveability of the car for the better, much smoother off boost and much more fun on boost
As T2T says, a free flowing panel filter, maybe a turbo back decat exhaust and the up-pipe if you can stretch that far, fuel pump is optional safety measure and a EcuTek remap
