P1 ECU safe to use on an import wrx ?

Default P1 ECU safe to use on an import wrx ?
was gonna get a uk ecu to use regular with, but my bhp wil be down to about 215ish,wotever a uk is, but then i thought about a p1 ecu, its still a uk car so wil be,unless tweaked by owner, mapped for regular fuel, no, so would this be ideal ?
