Ehm ... is my PPPd scoob not PPPd ??
We were coming out of some 40mph restricted motorway roadworks this afternoon and thought we'd see how quickly our WRX could do the 50-70mph jaunt (as you tend to do on a sunny Sunday afternoon).
I recall that someone on here said that a PPP'd car should bust the jaunt in around 7.5 seconds with a standard car puffing over the line in around 10.
Unfortunately, no VBOX was available, so the wife broke out the precision time piece that is the SonyEricsson K750i Stopwatch function. 9.5 seconds. On the way home through the same roadworks, said experiment was repeated, 9.5 seconds.
Possible causes of the modest discrepancy ...
1. Sainsburys SuperUL on board.
2. Brain lag between pilot and co-pilot (a second at most).
3. The cars not fully PPP'd.
Physical evidence of PPP is the Prodrive exhaust, the smattering of blue pipes under the bonnet and the ubiquitous installation certificate.
Am I missing a CPU or something?

Fifth of course, I'd be cutting my fuelpipes if it was in third !!! I think my TDI can muster 50-70 in about 10 secs in 3rd.
I would have thought the wife would add a few tenths, not 2 seconds.

Lag between co pilot and driver won't help, nor will starting from 50 as opposed to driving through it, which is how the official readings are taken I believe, then you have the extra weight of the passenger, the fact that the ambient temps have been through the roof etc....

OK, I timed the 50-70 out of curiosity, and got the following (standard MY05 wagon, no PPP) -
- 5th gear - 9.5 seconds
- 2nd and 3rd - 4.5 seconds
That was going through 50 on the way to 70, rather than sitting at 50 in the chosen gear and then flooring it. I was counting elephant 1, elephant 2 etc too, but I'm pretty accurate at that...

I don't try timing my Scooby but even though it's PPP'd the performance at the moment is unsurprisingly rubbish given the temperatures ..... when it is a bit cooler again I am sure it will feel a bit more energetic !

Curisosity made me try the same in my VAG TDI (130), 7.4 in 3rd (rev limiter bouncing at indicated 75mph), 12.2 in 5th.
Thanks for the through 50-70 tip ... I'll try that in the dark of night when the aliens are in bed and the ambient conditions are at their coolest. Just to be sure, I'll stick in some race fuel and find a 40% gradient, you know, real world performance benchmarking !!!
Got to see the tank of a specC, surely all them gallons of water sloshing about in the boot tank is a bad thing for handling.
Thanks again.

It was a dark, cool night last night and the aliens were in bed and the car told me it wanted to try accelerating through 50 onto 70 ... just like the Scoobynet heroes suggest ...
Jaunt 1: 7.6 secs
Jaunt 2: 7.8 secs
Jaunt 3: 7.8 secs
Call it 7 and a bit, close enough to PPP spec for me ... on supermarket 97RON as well !!!
Job done, I can sleep at night again.

Chug along at 50mph dip the clutch give the engine a good revving with full throttle prods to spin up the turbo and ease out the clutch again as per standing starts....zooom! 70mph in no time
Clutch might smell abit though
