Default Newbie!Buying Advice 02 STI PPP

Hello all, wonder if you could help me out!?
I have decided to purchase a little 2002 bugeye type uk sti with all the prodrive gear (300bhp i believe). Is there anything i need to be looking out for in particular, im going to look at one tommorow and any advice would be much appreciated, currently drive a MG ZS180 and need the rear wheels to start doing something!
Thanks in advance, Chris.

Have a lOOk at previous posts, using the search function. There's lots of info & links on "Buying Guides" and "buying advice".

FSH, PPP Cert, HPI. My 2p worth...

Yeah, you'll have to notify them, but most insurers are aware of it and that it's a dealer upgrade, so the increase is not much with the better insurers. (APlan, Keith Micheals).

deffo need to ring a specialist like greenlight, a-plan or Hi-Performance...

before i bought mine last august directline quoted £970 for a non ppp and 1420 for one with ppp.

im 27 with no points in a medium risk area.

currently paying a about a grand with greenlight...

plus you find explaining what ppp is to some random person who knows less than nothing about cars rather tedious at the 4th time of asking. she even asked me how to spell impreza...

i know yo talkin about tesco who are meant to be slightly better than directline, but still...

If you try A-Plan, they'll know exactly what you mean. I was asking about the TSL333, and they knew exactly what is was and how to quote for it. Some of the "others" i spoke to were, let's just say, not in the know.

If you can get it for less than £1k for your age, that will be a VERY good deal.

Id suggest that you also speak to Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels; much better than A-Plan in my experience (and your PPP will be covered in the event of a claim).

What a brilliant website this is, very useful guys thanks, i will give them all a call. I will be very happy if i can get it under £1000 im in a low risk area and have 5 years no claims and no convictions(yet!) so that goes a long way.

In 2002 they produced 2 STi type UK models, one was the "Prodrive" model with a nice body kit and big rear wing and then they produced the "non Prodrive" version with low level spoiler and a little bit more discreet styling.
The Prodrive and the non Prodrive models both came with 265ps, there was shortly after the option of adding the Prodrive performance package to either type of car to increase the power to 305ps and 299lbs of torque, to varify this, there should be a certificate with the car (chassis number, reg and mileage it was added) or you can just go down to a dealer and ask them to do a search for you.

Hope that answers your question

Tony
