Default Opinion on splitter

Planning on a Scott Lowe from splitter for my 05 Sti, personally think they look better "not" colour coded. Black splitter on blue etc...So as my Sti is black I thought I may paint it silver to contrast. Done a quick mock up in PS to see what it'll roughly look like, also note my car has silver graphics so it won't be the only silver thing on the car. Any opinions??

Not good. It's got halfords shopping spree written all over it. Just keep it in the matt black it comes in because it gets chipped and scraped very easily. I have a black 05 WRX and it looks absolutely fine without paint matching.

I would keep it black personally. Looks a bit cheap in a different colour.

Keep it black. I've got a scott lowe splitter on the front of my MY03 WRX and it DOES get chipped to buggery. So i wouldnt recommend getting it painted.

If you MUST get it painted, shiny gloss black to match your bodywork, definitely NOT silver.

IMHO

Ar no. I would keep it black. Black on black, and therefore not as noticeable (ie. bolted on bit) IMO is much better. I'm glad i don't have to paint mine.

So go for it you reckon then

Consensus is have it black then, fair do's, your all probably right & didn't really want to paint it to then decide black is best...

Cheers

Don't like it silver, seen a carbon fibre one on a black Sti and it looked fantastic.

It's your car, so do what you decide on...........you don't have to conform to the 'masses'.

Aye, exactly. It's your car. Listen to people's opinions, but it's your decision. If you want to be different, silver would do it. I've not seen another one with a silver lip spoiler.

In issue 36 of EVO magazine (OCT 2001) there is an article on the EVO 7 Extreme. The car is black with silver front splitter, side skirts and rear skirt. It actually looks quite good and different. I personally would have it black but if you like the silver and can live with it then go for it.

Dave,

I don't think it's that bad, would need to see some more pics. I decided to leave mine unpainted due to stone chipping.

That's one reason for not doing it, I'd imagine it will get very chipped very quickly. I know it'll look good in black & won't worry about chipping at all. Would like to see it on the car in silver even if it's just to say nope deffo black....Decisions.....
