I think you will be fine with the same intercooler, can't see the different bonnet affecting it.
Not sure on the bumper, didn't think it needed changing, could be wrong though?

same here. ive only just been told, i can get some of my cash back by selling what i take off the car. but just need to find out about the bumper and this inter cooler thing. igf i find the bumper is the same & the under plate fits the same two. all i need to do is find the bonnet in red as is the grill.

shouldent take too long to change.

If you keep the same bumper, even it it fits (which I think it will) it will look wrong, as the facelift bumpers has quite a few differences. A deep splitter may help the look but anyone who knows imprezas would spot it straight away.

Defo need lights, bonnet, grill. You'll be ok with the tilt kit and STi intercooler... Just shut the bonnet gentally first time

Big difference, in fact thinking back I know the pre '98 bumper will fit as I've seen an RB5 on ebay with the old bumper.

If you see them side by side there is a big difference, particularly the brake vents/front indicators area.

The whole pre '98 bumper looks slightly off, as in higher (ground clearance) at the front than the rear compared to the '99

ive seen a couple of pics so far, i now most of them are completly different, but a good couple have the old style bumper on. this is what i want to find out. dont want to make the car look stupid. i'll look on fle-bay see whats on there. if thay did make them with the old style bumper. then i'll keep it on. if not, well back to saving more cash...

I have a face-lifted 95 model, It has had new front bumper, lights, grill and bonnet, as far as I know the intercooler is as original, however on the underside of the bonnet it has a plate that corrects the airflow due to the intercooler being in a different position!? If you would like anymore info I can find out for you?

You're better off keeping your intercooler as a later one will be a pita to fit, the phase 1/1.5 manifold seems to be slightly offset comparedto the phase 2

i now, i tryed to fit one on my classic a while ago. + the sqrare one have that problem off over heating where as the slanty one dont. just need to make sure that it fits. as long as it looks like the 97 face lift, i'll be happy with it. + wouuld look great with morettis on. just need to sort out this inter cooler now. will it or will it not fit

yes it will fit, and can be done. but it is a bugger to do. it's not a straight swap and there is no fitting kit for it so make your own brackets and fight with it.

so its trial & erer now then. the bonnet should be about the same. if i then take the scoop off and place the cooler plate over the cooler, i should be able to drill pilat holls to where thay are on the face lift one. if there very simerler. should be very easy if not, well tingkering time.
