Default How Loud!

Just wondering if i fit a decat centre section for my 94 WRX JDM, would it make a significant noise increase?? Also does anyone know of one for sale, and how much!

Cheers

depends which rear box etc TBH.... i normally fit my catted centre for trackdays and that gets it down enough.... have a resonated centre off a classic in the garage (open to offers) this didnt make much difference over a decat either....

Is it a case of just removing the resonator and bolting back on, or do i have to get another piece??

Cheers

I had a decatted SS downpipe and SS middle pipe and it made a hell of a racket, changed it to a decated resonated prodrive pipe and that made a big difference to the noise it makes, I would go for a resonated centre pipe if I was you. the noise of a decat is offensive.

Now my car sounds awsome and is not to loud.

The resonated centre will also reduce drone on the motorway.

Never heard of anyone "cutting parts of the exhaust out".

A non-resonated centre pipe will cost you £100, a resonated centre at about £120.

buy centre section, remove existing centre section, replace with new centre section.
Have you looked under the car yet as it will be very obvious to you if you do.

Easy job. Just bolts straight in. Magnex do a SS one for about £70.

So what i have to do is buy a centre section?? It is not possible to remove the resonator box without having a new centre section to put in its place??
And no i havent looked under the car, i leave that kinda thing to the professionals, one look from me would probably result in the entire car falling apart, so bad is my diy capabilities!!
Thanks

Nope you need a new centre pipe the catted resonated pipe is a sealed pipe

and yes if you remove the cats or resonator it will be offensively loud and it will drone on long runs and there will be throbbing in side the car which will get on your nerves and the nerves of your passangers, it iwl also attract unwanted attention form the BIB and your neighbours.

if you're worried about DIY then you wouldnt want to remove it yourself.
cheaper to buy a new centre than pay someone to dick around with yours
