I posted last week asking for opinions and didn't get much response and also tried a search but couldn't find any relevant topics so I'm trying a different tact. Has anyone got the above and found it dissappointing??

Thanks.

Phil,

Elaborate please! I have it on order and haven't driven a demonstrator so would like to know what it is like.

Had mine fitted on Saturday and I'm very happy with it so far! Early days still of course, but the mid range acceleration (and torque) is much improved and it sounds great. What specifics do you want?

Also make sure you ask the dealer for all your old parts back!

Mr President, why did you order it? If we know what you were looking for then it'll be easier to let you know if the PPP is the answer.

Maybe I didn't give enough info. I previously had a MY95 WRX import then a MY99 now a MY01. I am missing the performance and torque. All I really want to know what differences does the package make to how the car goes and sounds.

I moved from a MY98 to a MY01, now that I've fitted the PPP I don't complain about lack of power. The exhaust noise is divine, just a chilled chug when you want to be quiet then screams like a banshi when you boot it. Third gear in 30/40mph zones is bang on, my MY98 never felt like that. Petrol consumption seems to have stayed the same.

Adam,

I ordered it because it is the only upgrade that does not affect the warranty. I didn't drive it because I have more money than sense. Seriously though, what I would like is opinions from owners who have had it done.

Curious. Tiggs, Are you saying you would have stuck with the standard car? Why're you bored with it?

seamus,

not sure, i never intended to own a nonppp car- i ordered ppp way back in april when i picked the car up. so would i have stuck with a standard car? dont know, never considered it until now.

my choice, if i had it again, would be between other cars and what i have now. i would look more closley at import sti, etc.

i took the wrx ppp because (by owning a UK new car) my employer agreed to pay £x pm for it and insure it for me. with hindsight i might have decided to insure it myself and get something quicker.

Sure you get used to the PPP and probably end up craving more power...who doesn't. But I wounldn't dream of going back!!!

I certainly need to have a brake upgrade now!!

Still happy and still worth it...

Cool

I had mine fitted last Thursday. What a massive improvement over standard. I now need a brake upgrade, and still less than 2000 miles.

As a package the MY01 PPP is unbeatable - power, handling, refinement, sounds great and looks the biz (yes i did say that).

PPP is a must have option IMHO

Thumbs down

I thought I'd told you to drive a MY01 PPP demo model first, on another post about this? It's the only way that you're gonna save £1600.....

PS I'm still waiting to be convinced but no one wants to 'put there money where their mouth is'.

I've had mine fitted with the PPP and the engine is nice and loose now (just having had the 15k service).

The performance increase is impressive, the car pulls much more in each gear and the amount of restraint needed at lights to keep the car under 30 is becoming a joke.

Although £1,600 is a lot of money it is the warrenty safe upgrade that should be carried out on the car to show what it really is capable of.

Of course the morettes are required to make the car look more aggressive and less scared!

Not sure brakes are next for me, I'm looking out for the Prodive springs and a strut brace first. By that time I am liekly to have replace the front pads anyway.
