First scooby - MY03 Costs
Howdy,
Looking to change my current car (Ibiza Cupra ~210bhp) for a MY03 Sti. Now I know the scooby is going to hit my wallet alot harder than the cupra but not sure how much exactly.
1. What mpg can I expect steady motorway/dual carriageway driving? Is the Sti much less economical than a standard WRX?
2. Servicing. Can anyone give me a rough indication of costs and service schedules?
3. How long is the standard warranty?
Also what are the main differences of the Sti over a standard wrx, I really need to drive both I suppose but I can imagine wishing I went for the sti if I got a wrx. What is a 'Type UK' Sti?
Any other advice when looking at Stis would be greatly recieved.
Many thanks
Dom

From: 1600cc's of twin scroll fun :)
A type UK is a new age uk spec sti with 265ps or if it has the PPP then it has 305ps.
Main differences is that it just looks similar, pretty much everything else is different, clutch, gearbox, brembo 330mm brakes (front) and 305mm (rear) compared to 294mm on the WRX (subaru not brembo), 6 gears v 5, nicer interior trim, bigger spoiler and body kit, lsd's, etc etc etc.
Servicing... depends on where you go, 10k intervals, 30k one is big, intermediate ones should cost no more than 100 quid, big ones can set you back 600 quid.
MPG, dont even go there, in town, 15-18mpg in the STi, 20 in the wrx, motorway, 25-30 in the STi, low to mid 30's in the wrx.
Not a cheap car to run basically.

dont forget the pink badges as standard, you wont get these on a wrx. i would imagine this will sway your decision, it did for me.
if its not already been said, bigger turbo, injectors, different suspension, bigger intercooler, stronger internals and probably more. all in all a great package ready for even more power to be unleashed with a couple of cheap mods-honest.

I actually got back from Manchester last night averiging near 90mpg and i used £45 of fuel is 220miles...though i have done this journey in £30 driving at 70mph...however very painfull!
Around town it is good, if you drive gently...i average near 35/40miles to £10...
