Backbox and insurance
Should a back box replacement be declared to insurers.
All cats and original pipes are untouched.
I wouldn't have thought there would be any power gain from replacing the box.

If it ain't standard then delcare it, we all know insurance compaines like to get out of paying a claim, why give them an excuse.
But prepare to bend over as alot of insurance companies charge up to 10% of the premium for a back box alone!!!!!!

I've also told Admiral about the backbox and centre section on mine, went up £30 a year. Contract states "any chances to car either in performance or cosmetic, that are not declared may void your policy".
Other insurance companies I've been with charged nothing with new wheels/exhaust/air filters, but mind you they were a Nova SRI and Astra GSI, so not exactly a Scooby.

Keith Michaels didnt increase my quote at all for a number of modifications, including and H&S backbox. One further point: if Id had to claim then my additions would have been covered for their full value, unlike A-Plan where youre simply covered with them (the difference will become apparent when they come to settle a total loss).

From an insurance claims bloke (moi!) :
D'pends what they ask on the proposal, a copy of which you will normally be sent out even if policy taken out over the phone. Some insurers just ask about "performance modifications", some ask about "modifications".
Under the ABI Code of Conduct an Insurer should only repudiate a claim on the grounds of non-disclosure where that information would have resulted in them refusing to accept the risk. If insead they would have charged a higher premium, they are supposed to simply deduct from the claim payment the additional premium that would have been paid had the modifications been notified.
Having said all that, I chose to disclose my mod's !
hope that helps lads,
