yes it will be easier, but most of them are overpriced by alot!!! a 03JDM STI cost around 8-11k in japan, this includes tax and shipping..... with registering the car, it still wont be higher than 14k!!!

Bonsai cars? £14k for an 03 JDM STi does seem a tad optimistic? I'd say £15k to £16k was probably more like it. I'm looking for one as well so I know a little bit about it. Perhaps we should do a group buy ...

The Litchfield cars are always sooooo shiny ....

if you do some research they only cost 8-11k in japan this price includes shipping and VAT, + register in on road wont cost more than 2k so 14k is possible! , 16k is well overpriced......

Id get that one checked out
JDM STi's hold their value better than a UK one so 13.5k for that is either a bargain or somethings up somewhere (not that they go wrong with good maintenance and fuel) so inspection and HPi if its spent its entire life in the uk

Newera imports, Brighton. Check their website out. Miguel is the buyer, he lives in Tokyo, Japan, and if I remember rightly, he was one of the people who first started Japanese Performance magazine.

There's a couple of JDM's for sale on Autotrader by dealers, but when I called them, they do not have the Japanese auction sheet. From what I undertand, the auction sheet is the jewel in the crown, and if the car for sale is a ''fresh import'', then why no auction sheet, which would be a a very important document in the aid of selling the car in the first place? How strange. Cars sold at Japanese auctions are, according to various websites, very strictly graded, and therefore it is vital to be in posession of it as a seller! What crap is it when a dealer says 'Its a lovely car mate, its had no paintwork or accident damage'. How the hell does he know?????????

Default JDM STI

The car is a JDM import according to the owner, the V5 and an HPI check, imported to the UK in April this year. The car has features I have seen that I believe are only fitted to the JDM cars (Electric folding mirrors, clock with km/h converted to mph,DCCD with auto and manual modes, intercooler water spray with auto and manual modes, quick shift/short ratio gear change)
Granted it is difficult to gauge whether it actually has a twin scroll turbo or quick rack steering etc....., but i have driven the car for 30 minutes and it did not throw up any obvious problems, and seemed much quicker that a UK 03 STI car I have driven previously on a few occasions.
All the panels/bodywork appeared to be in excellent condition, just a few small stone chips on the fornt. The only obvious defect was a scraped front alloy, but only slight damage, easily repairable.

The owner has a genuine reason to sell (which i will not go into), and seemed extremely knowedgable regards the car and Imprezas in general, as well as making apoint of warming the car/colling down after we went for a rather spirited drive.

Any opinions gratefully received, as i do not profess to be an "expert" in this but can only offer what i have seen when looking at this car.

Just do a search on the name, will bring up quite a few people who are not really impressed with the "quality" of the cars they have purchased/going to purchase from there.

If its an 03/04/05/06 model then it will be a twin scroll turbo, it has a more "distinctive" sound to it
Trouble is, that the price is too cheap, that rings bells to start with.
Bought new this car would be 27k, they do not loose 13.5k in less than 2 years, my 03 is worth 16-17k with similar mileage, so either there is a serious problem somewhere (crash damaged/repaired) or the owner doesnt know the value of said vehicle, its even cheaper than a UK STi, see where we are going?
The HPi check that was done will not show if there was any damage done to this car whilst it was in Japan, there will be a reason its cheap....
