Got mine from Sparshatts of Botley, near Southampton. Got a great deal.

Was worth the journey as the local dealers wouldn't even chuck in free mats let alone give a discount on the list price, Sparshatts knocked off £1600 Nice drive back to get used to the car too!

I know its not in Essex. The point I was making was that none of the dealers in Essex offered good deals so I travelled further afield and saved myself £1600. Sometimes it pays to shop around and look a bit further than your own doorstep!

OK . .Ok. . .Don't hit me with your handbag! . . .

I somewhat agree . . .But investigating further afield costs time and money . . . . But agreed . .That's how I found Haddocks . .Initially I intended to use a London dealer ( Hunt and Keal) . .But after being lectured about Speed Limits , and asking about my budget over the phone, I thought best go to the Subaru county, and get one from there!

I sent one email.

I sent it to What car magazines "Target Price". In What car magazine they print a target price that they were able to purchase the car for. If you can't find a dealer that will match the price it says that you should send an email to them and they will find a dealer that will match the target price.

That's what I did, 2 days later I received an email from the Subaru Dealer in Southampton offering me a New Black STi TypeUK for the price stated in the magazine. Simple as that!

4 weeks later I was there picking up my nice new car!

Nice one Fozzalot!

You are needless to say a true King among men . . .One email . .And there's yr new car! . . .

However, the rest of us simpletons realise that dealerships do not necessarily do what it saiz on the tin! . .I simply believe, that we are first and foremost dealing with people, and not "dealerships as such" . .

Meet them face to face, look at the dealership . .Get a feel for it . .My dealer said - "I can take a deposit over the phone" I declined and got there over the w/e . . .And thank god I did . .Because over the phone I would have left a deposit for a WRX + PPP, and not a WRX300 . . .Do you follow??

But saying that, I was new to Subaru and was right to excersize caution and deal face to face . .

It'll be nice for you to take a car out when there's some salt on the road without worrying it'll rust in front of you

Fozzalot had faith in the ad & was rewarded for it , if your not as confident in ads yourself ,(WRX300MAN ) fine go to the dealer & make sure your getting what you want. Foz wanted an STi & that's what he got , 1600 hundred quid cheaper. If this helps someone else get a deal ..great. So quit being funny !

You can't really go wrong. I said to the Subaru man "I want a Brand new STi TypeUK in Black please".....he said "ok"

He couldn't really get it wrong and when the paperwork came through comfirming details of make and model of car as above then I was happy.

OK . .So its hitting the WRX300MAN with a hand bag time!. . .

Come on . .Is there no space for a quility humourous interjection on Snet?? . .But Fozzalot missed out on the haggling, the drinking of complementary coffee, and ofcourse the test drive hammering it around some B Roads . .

Its nice talking to you lads!

On the contrary, I had sent the email a couple of days prior to the test drive at the local dealer to use as ammunition to get him to lower the price, but the best he could offer was about £50 off Thats when I walked out of the showroom and confirmed by phone, my order with the dealer in Southampton whilst still in his carpark.

Nice talking to you too.

PS.....what's your fascination with being beaten with handbags?

Aaaah . .So you had the best of both worlds I see . . .Haggling/getting p*ssed off, and getting a great deal in Southampton later. . .

About the handbags??? . . Why . .Is yours GUCCI or PRADA . . . .Its usually girls that like to hit me with a handbag during a verbal exchange!

T/C mate!
