What do you like / dislike about your STi ??
Had my 53 STi ppp for a few months now.
I like:
1. The raw power and torque.
2. Switching the stereo off and listening to the engine and exhaust when thrashing it.
3. Opposite lock in the wet.
4. It looks f**king great.
I dislike:
1. The six speed "notchy" (quick shift) gearbox. Never in the right gear long enough.
2. Normal understeer and power understeer.
3. 200 miles on a tank of fuel (18mpg) and constantly searching for Optimax.
4. Everyone staring.
5. Everyone wanting a race.
6. The suspension is too hard. Wrx suspension is loads better.

Did you test drive a WRX and the STi before you bought one?
Surely some of the reasons you've given for disliking the STi are usually part of the reasons why most people buy one no?
Firmer suspension - better handling
Everyone staring - well thats a no brainer - "It looks f**king great."

Had my 04 STi for 7 months now.
Standard:
Dislikes:
1. Brakes
2. Tramlining
3. Constant gear changes
4. LAG!!
Post-coversion:
(Decat exhaust, filter, fuel pump, headers/up-pipe, 18" wheels, prodrive springs, fast road pads front & back, braided hoses)
I like:
1. Power, bit bored/disappointed with it standard, but after the conversion, drives smoother and is faster and an overall better drive.
2. Switching the stereo off and listening to the noises.
3. Handling.
4. It looks f**king mean.
I dislike:
1. Everyone staring.
2. The fact that someone will do "something" to harm it/me, due to jealousy.
3. Searching for Optimax, gets on my **** sometimes.
4. Crap wipers
5. Poor headlights

I Like:
1. The uglyness of it - These are not beautiful. IMHO they look "great" because they are look mean.
2. The car feels so much more planted that my old classic
3. The emphisis on the driver - Centrering of rev counter, shift light and 2 drivers sun visors
4. Interior generally - Much, much better that the classic and equivelent Evo.
5. The fact that's it black - Cleaning??? Thesre cars are for driving!
I Dislike:
1. The ridiculous fuel consumption - 200/230 miles on a tank is the norm.
2. Finding, and then paying £1.02/litre for Optimax.
3. The constant **** taking by my colleagues who think wearing a SWRT cap whilst driving my car is beyond sad. Bas*ards.

Had my 06 Sti for nearly 3 months
Dislikes:
Fuel consumption. It's usually around 200 miles to a tank full of Optimax although I did one get nearly 250 on a steady run once.

I have a 53 reg STI (Type UK), which I've owned for just over a year. I would echo most of the above replies; like the looks (minus gold wheels in my case!), the brakes, the seats, the turbo, the burble, dislike the thirstiness for fuel, having to plan longer journeys via Shell garages, the lag.
Two things I'm surprised no-one has mentioned yet, given how often they come up on here, are the crappy paintwork - really poor IMO, probably the worst I've ever known - and the depreciation, though I guess these are more general Impreza problems, not specific to STI's...

What I like.
The looks.
The colour. (Crystal Grey)
The noise.
The power.
The fun factor.
What I dislike.
The wobbling rear wing.
Worring about leaving it certain places.
Loving STI PPP ownership.

I like:-
The 6 speed gearbox, nice and precise, considerably better than that really notchy 5 speed one on other scoobs.
The fact that people think my car is a wrx
The low down torque and twin scoll turbo, car pulls from 1500rpm to the red line
The sound, its much nicer than the burble as it sounds like a modern WRC Impreza rally car
The road tax as after all this time they still only charge me for a WRX even after sending the V5 back twice with the amendments on
The quick rack steering
The A-DCCD
The fact that it gets more MPG than most other new age STi's
Dislike:-
Nothing really, the cars superb

Had my 53 STi ppp for a few months now.
I like:
1. The raw power and torque.
Ok, but miss the extra power of my old EVO
2. Switching the stereo off and listening to the engine and exhaust when thrashing it.
How true
3. Opposite lock in the wet.
Handling takes a lot of effort to get the best, but quite rewarding.
4. It looks f**king great.
Hum
I dislike:
1. The six speed "notchy" (quick shift) gearbox. Never in the right gear long enough.
Takes some getting used to, but find mine perfect now.
2. Normal understeer and power understeer.
As stated above.
3. 200 miles on a tank of fuel (18mpg) and constantly searching for Optimax.
Yep.
4. Everyone staring.
Hey, thats a positive
5. Everyone wanting a race.
Agree, last night some tosser in an Audi screamed past me in a 30 just because I was doing 30.
6. The suspension is too hard. Wrx suspension is loads better.
Hum, I tend to thing the STi is a bit soft after the EVO and its quite a comfortable car, just the road noise is a bit high.

the ride (it's only the reo70's that make it hard and tramline)
it's a nicer more solid feel to the whole car than my old classic
unlike others i love the brakes
the handling/grip is great
i love the look of the car
dislike -
bugger all room to put stuff in the cabin
no folding seats
daft things like the service manual pouch had it's own 'shelf' in the classic leaving the rest of the glovebox free and now they've put the alarm keypad in the dashboard cubby hole
the bloody seatbelt alarm
but worst not being able to make my mind up if i should change the reo70's for a different make. all the slightly poor feel in the wet is forgotten about when you nail a corner in the dry!
overall though the likes FAR outweigh the dislikes
