Default GM/Vauxhall oil?

Who makes the semi-syn oil that GM/Vauxhall use in there services. All it says on the container is made in the EU. My brother just picked up his car from thevauxhall dealers after a service and a bottle of the oil was left in the boot. It says Genuine GM Semi-syn oil 10w- 40.

It does exactly what it says on the tin, That is all anyone needs to worry about!

You do not need to spend a fortune on fancy oil , The exception is something like F1 where the engines are highly stressed for a very short period of time, For road cars no matter how highly tuned or complex the oil used is really down to the spec required e.g 15/40 and not how much it costs. There are people on here who will spend a huge amount on fancy named oil because of the name and change it twice as often as they need too!

But they have more money than sense.
