Default MY06 problem

Hi

I have a UK STi Spec D PPP. It;s done 500 miles and I have had quite a problem today. I pulled out turning left from a side road, and the wheels started slipping (was driving gently where running in!). I put it down to crap on the road. However when I went to pull into a car park, a fairly hard turn, near full lock, the car felt like I had slammed the brakes on. I had to get the revs up to about 3K just to get moving, the car shimmied/snaked as it moved forward. About 2 mins later there was a burning smell.

I had the steering-lock-braking happen before thinking about it, but I put it down to the auto diff being on and playing silly buggers, but this time it was on manual.

Anyone had similar or any ideas what could be up? I will be throwing it back at the dealer under warranty but don't want to get fobbed off. Also I am not confident driving it to the dealers, as the steering seems very heavy, plus I am pooing myself about doing serious damage to the car getting it to the dealer.

Help!!!!

Don't worry, the transmission is quite tight and you'll get the inner rear wheel 'skipping' with a lot of steering lock on.

'They all do that Sir'!!

cheers on the transmission - any idea about the 'braking'? The car came to an abrupt halt - it was like trying to pull away with the brakes on, hence the fairly high revs just to move. That and the burning smell!

Is it like the "they all do that sir" on my STi V Type R when you had the DCCD moved forward? Slow speed manoeuvring was like a Tesco shopping trolley!

sounds like it!

Told my wife that the car doesn't like being driven conservatively

roll on next 500 miles so that I can change the red light indicator above 3500 rpm. At the moment its like an old Justy my dealer had as a courtesy car.

cheers for all your help guys.

Can confirm what Mike said, mine was exactly the same as yours for the first couple of thousand then it eases off. Although I still put it into manual at the rear most setting when reversing
