Default HPI Check show wrong car?

Just about to hpi a car and when i put the plate in it comes up as a fiat rather than a scooby. Is this a common thing or is the car dodgey.

I assume when i actually pay for the check i can put in the chasis number/v5 number and mot number to get a more accurate result...

Bit new to HPI checks!!

Erm can`t really help you but try HPI Checks in the search area as it may give you some more accurate details.

I know that the DVLA often have the models of Subaru's wrong when it comes to the log book . This is often the case with imports. I have an MY94 WRX RA but the log book states its a terzo , Which is obviously wrong as they only made these from 1997 onwards. However i've never heard of anyone having a hpi check bring up a totally different make of vehicle , Not a legit one anyway . Might be best to stay clear.

Best of luck

James

Stick the reg number in here and see what it says....

http://www.rac.co.uk/web/vehiclechecks/dvla_lookup/

For me I get:-

Manufacturer SUBARU
Model Body type 4 DOOR SALOON
Colour WHITE
Fuel type PETROL
Date manufactured 10 April 2002
Number of previous owners 2
Last owner change 18 February 2004

It's actually a Wagon though - but being an Import you expect a little discrepancy....

It's probably a DVLA ***** up - but is it worth the risk? I would get the current owner to contact the DVLA and change the details...

Number of previous owners 9

Not good in 7 years is it? Well closer to 6 1/2!!

1999 STi for 6K is cheap.

Might be worth looking into - ok crashed, but if repaired well that's a very cheap car.

I can't believe anyone even considers crap like this when the market's flooded with reasonable, kosher cars.
