I know there is a fix for this ....
... but, what is it please??
The drivers side window of my Classic has started lifting at all kinds of stupid angles when it's moved up and will not seal .......... this was a known fault and was discussed many years ago, but -being old- I've forgotten!!
I seem to remember a bolt works loose or something?? The glass has been rattling for a while now - but, it now wont close properly as the angle is all wrong (I can man-handle it to its correct position, but thats no good while you are driving along!)
Anyone any 'idiot guide' for me or photos or tips/hints p....l...e...a...s...e...

I can send you a copy of a pdf for a 2004 sti if you want. Everythings pretty much the same as a classic and its a full idiots guide covering everything. You could strip the car down to a bare shell and stick it back together with it.
Doesnt tell you how to fit a 'cocklink' or a d/v though....

Before you start you must disconnect all electrical components incase of static blowing your crank sensor and melting the ecu or the electric window switch...take off the door panel then tighten all the nuts and bolts you can see... if in doubt phone scoobyclinic and let them do it, ive heard there pretty good and can complete the job you require in approx one quick swing of a rubber mallet, think they charge about £50 so its quite cheap really.

But, maybe they will tell me it actually needs a re-map at £700+VAT and a CockLink to fix it
Thanks for the help ... someone must have done it - I have the least messed about with car on here!! Hence its a shock when something goes wonky!!

The rest of the doorcard is clipped on, pull gently to free them. it's often stuff at the top so it's easier doing this lot with the glass down - and the black triangular bit that covers the wing mirror fixings pulled off (it just pops on and off)
There's tons of nuts and bolts holding the elec window mech. in place it's probably one of those thats loose / buggered / missing *

tight fisted old git.
Your the bloody engineer or so you say
use some of your so called skills and fix it yourself!!!
ooops sorry that would mean....
A) you would actually have to work
B) You would have to do it right and made sure it worked, everytime
C) you wouldnt be able to hide behind quadrillion redundant systems just in case it didnt work.
come on pissy, you talk the talk, now walk the walk, we want documented proof, that you did the work yourself, should be a walk in the park for a man of your calibre

seem to recall you take great kudos, in telling everyone how you are an engineer who is the best of the best....
so a simple problem like this should be easy peasy!!!! but then again if you were just the cleaner pushing a broom, then you would need help wouldnt you
and anyway hark at you telling me its not constructive,
you only have two topics of post!!!! provoke an argument or NL
neither of which have any mileage anymore
so off you go, i think woolys do a basic socket set for £1.99, thats assuming you know how to use one

So, if you would be so kind as to either:-
1. Answer how to fix the window glass
2. Show where I said I am the greatest, apart from everyone actually saying it on my behalf
or
3. Shut up and run along now ...

I think Pete wants his window fixed so when he drives through the local village the locality doesn't hear his latest boyzone/mcfly mix pumping out that great big 20" sub he's got in the back...
That would aslo explain why his car's so slooowww! Its nothing to do with his driving...

Listen, it's quite sensible to ask on here about what may be causing the glass to drop and twist ..... someone may have had the very same thing and fixed it.
As it is, it seems that loose bolts are the culprit - now I know what to look for when I strip it down.
Nothing to do with my ability as a World Class Engineer at all - in any case, an Engineer (a proper Engineer) never actually does the work ... they Design and dictate what must be done - they don't get their hands dirty!!
So there, Pete
