Anyone who goes on the road should pay tax.

We stop at crossings (emitting more gases stopping and starting) so make peds pay tax (only if the don't pay tax on a veihcle)

They should use the money to fix more roads, MY geometry has been done 4times in 4months thanks to 2 potholes on my way to and from Crewe. Ba$tard$ the government. Sack em all and kick the queen out of the country.

 

I was having an argument with my brother about this last week. I pay now like most of us do 190 quid road tax as the Sti is 225g/km+, he drives a peugeot 407 hdi estate which he pays like 120 tax.

He then says well you should pay more road tax cos you pollute more. Well no not quite, I only drive 4k miles max a year in the sti, he uses his to drive 60 miles a day 5 days a week going to work and does close to 16k miles a year, even tho he has more mpg he dumps more Carbon than I ever do, why should I pay more road tax i say? It should all be on petrol, the more the you use the more tax you pay simple as that in my book.

 

I agree with that, always have ...... but it will never become reality as too many pressure groups drive lots of miles!!

I would make those that have no CAT pay £1000 a year Tax - just pull over a selection of EVOs, Imprezas and other Chavmobiles and slap a £1000 Car tax on them if running with no CAT!!

Pete, how would you tax those with no cat (assuming the car had one in the 1st place, older cars don't have them)??? The authorities don't even check on cats which should be there anyway, only maybe at mot time. People can be fined for not having a cat but it doesn't happen (hence why so many people do it).

tax more on fuel, get rid of the rest. It's fair, it's simple, it's honest, it's easy but that's too hard a concept for govt. Or, here's a thought, tax something else or waste less our our tax £s. Let's spend our taxes more efficiently rather than taxing us more.
