Shell gearing up for UK launch of V Power
Don't if there has been official confirmation yet, but its definitely happening.
They are currently buying huge amounts of media for the launch, including sponsoring the coverage of the final races in the F1 championship.
Apparently the new tag line will be 'made to move'.
Sounds like its already in many of the pumps.
Good news for performance car owners.

I found this on an overseas site, I hope to god it isnt true that the octane isnt gona be that low here too!
<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
What is the octane rating of Shell V-Power?
Octane ratings for premium gasoline vary across the country. The octane level of Shell V-Power is anywhere from 90 to 93 octane, depending on the region. It’s important to point out, however, that octane is not the only factor to consider when choosing a fuel. For example, many cars that don’t require higher octane can benefit from the cleaning power provided by Shell V-Power.
Shell V- Power premium gasoline actively cleans for better performance. It helps clean up deposits on intake valves and fuel injectors left behind by low-detergent gasolines. That’s because Shell V-Power contains more than five times the amount of cleaning agents required by government standards. If these deposits are not removed, some vehicles may experience hesitation during the initial warm-up period.

All,
I can't post details BUT I have seen proof of v-power today at Shell. I have also seen the design for the new v-power membership card. (It's got 1 rounded corner just like that ugly credit card). Red on top, grey strip on the bottom (rounded corner on bottom right). The membership cards are being produced as we speak and are being sent in the post next week, so I suspect the fuel will be here next week too.
I only know that the RON rating is over 100 but can't confirm 102. It's definatley happening though so that's great!!!
Regards,

They've all stopped wearing Optimax t-shirts that they have been for the last few years.
They all now wear simple red t-shirts, v-necks and fleeces.
This must be the world's worst kept secret!

I wonder if they'll be running the 'black stallion running through the surf' TV ads..?
Don't forget, quite a few of us went to shells consumer group Q&A last year about V-Power being launched in the UK..! They said at the time it would be 99ron, but with tesco since having 99 I wonder if that's changed..?

From: Somewhere in Kent, sniffing some V-Power
It would make business sense to introduce this fuel.
I'm sorry, but BP are taking the p*ss charging £2+ a litre for their super duper fuel.
The car would have to remapped to see any benifits and then run solely on that fuel!
So now if Shell introduce something similar for the same price as Optimax, BP will be saying 'Bye Bye' to the few muppets who actually bought the stuff anyway.
V-Power all the way!

I dont think the car will need remapping to experience a significant difference from the new fuel if it is 100 RON or over and you'll already had it mapped on 97/98 or 99RON.
Mines mapped on 98RON and when I put plus 2 RON booster in I do notice that it's pulling harder, especially over 5,500 rpm. It won't just be the RON that's changed anyway - at the least that will mean a safer less likely to det engine, but the calorific value should be upped as well as they won't be marketing this fuel just at those willing to get their timing adjusted to suit !

What is the ron in Japan? Does anyone know?
If the new Shell fuel is higher, would it be ok to use on the cars that have been imported or come to think of it, any of the Scoobs that have been manufactured!?
I have a UK turbo, will this be mapped for any particular fuel rating or just the standard un-leaded? the car is basically standard.

I've just returned from two weeks abroad and today filled up at Shell garage London Road, Nottingham. They have just started reselling Optimax after a two month absence. The RON on the pump has been removed and the cashier said it was the new stuff but didn't know any further details.
So I blasted my scoob, which is a Ecutek re-mapped JDM sti v7, around the back roads and what an improvement in the smooth delivery especially in the higher rev range. My co*klink never blinked a single light even at 7000rpm whereas it would on the old optimax. For the last couple of months I've had to use Ultimate which also made the fairylights flash.
Paid 102.5p today for it. Cheaper than Ultimate.
