If you don't know what you're looking for, why a P1? You must have some idea what you're looking for

sorry cant of made myself clear

what i meant was things to look out for when im buying one good/bad points, engine rebuild etc

why a P1 ... well i love the look of them for a start in my opinion i believe its still the best looking scooby there is, its got everything i could want from a car ... performance, looks, 4x4, size, colour, oh and he little matter of a turbo charger lol

ive owned a t/c scoob before but it lacked everything a P1 had when i test drove one ...

Erm.. my 96 sti has a turbo charger as do all sti's.

Is the P1 a 2 door? If not, then your arguement is pretty swallowed in all the other sti's on the market.

I'm not an expert on scoobies.. but I know a lot of cars that cream the pant off of a P1 that aren't a P1.

Colour? LOL... You can have any colour scoob you want! Can I ask how old you are?

You can pick up a type R scoob, which is a jap import, 2 door, with all the goodies, bigger brakes, intercooler (I/C) spray, driver controllable center differential (DCCD) etc. for less money than a P1

The P1 was based on the '99 year of this car but to suit UK roads, and a bit of styling etc

soulgirl im 24 ... 25 in jan, i can officially say i know nothing about scoobies sowhich ones have a better *performance* spec then a p1 or in your words "cream the pants off" lol

but remember we cant go faster then 70mph on british roads anyway

T/c is just my short hand for turbo charged too

P1's seem to be holding their value very well, i doubt you will get one for under £11,000 may be even more, Type-R's are much more of an involving car to drive, which i personally prefer, see if you can have a drive in both, unless you have already definatly made your mind up.

yer ive been searching around and found one last night actually cant remember the in's & out's but it was low milage for £12k which is in my budget for my next car ...

what do you mean by a more "involving car" to drive,

im not 100% confirmed on the p1 yet but if it was a choice of 2 i would go for that one first ... SO 99% decided

Basiclly the P1 is a slightly toned down version of the Type-R, the Type-R was not built for the british roads and therefore has a harsher suspension set up, it also does not have ABS instead it has DCCD [ driver control centre diff ], it just makes it a bit more raw compared to the P1, but as i said thats just personal preference.

Also type Rs have a different gear ratio set up, I think 0-60 is slightly quicker at 4.3 (P1 4.6)

sorry but all p1s are 2 door and they come in blue!!!

woodsy: if you are looking for a P1 make sure you buy one with FSH, low miles, find out everything about the engine, as quite few of them would have gone through engine rebuilt and try to find one with extended warranty, trust me you're not going to regret it.

woodsy: no i didnt own 1 but my boss had a p1 and he used to be very generous and trusted my driving so had it for myself few times.

If i could rip his seats off and put them on my bugeye sti i would do it cos they were much better IMHO.
If you like the p1 then go for it
