Best I can recommend is THIS GUY. He's a Police trained pursuit driver and will advise on the Roadcraft style of driving. Significantly increased my average driving speed whilst improving safety through a combination of supreme car balance and hazard anticipation and preparation.

What did he teach you about car balance Dave ?

Do you reckon the driving style for the Impreza changes with the Whiteline ARB you (and I) have fitted. Fantastic handling by the way !!

I used to be "Last of the late brakers" being hard on (oo-er) the power to the last second and then struggling to shed speed to make the bends with the car nervous and potentially unruly. The Police high speed driving technique (based on Roadcraft) teaches you that a balanced car is a faster car, and by minimising weight transfer you maximise grip and balance, greatly increasing the speed carried through a corner. Where I used to approach at say 90, brake as late as possible to maybe 60 and turn in often still braking to combat understeer before getting back on the power; I now assess the corner on approach, adjust speed using just the gears to negate any front/rear weight transfer and am back on the power virtually on turn-in, or as soon as the sightline through the corner opens to reveal it is safe beyond. The approach into the same corner may now be IRO 120, the 'box slowing me to 90 and driving through on power and already accelerating back over the ton through the apex and already preparing for the next bend. I really could do with a refresher myself as I have had a quiet year for high speed driving and feel rusty.

I did Subaru driver training at the driver training centre at Hockenheim, we did it in STi8s and it was an absolutely awsome day.

If you want to learn car balance then I can very highly recommend Don Palmer. He coaches and trains drivers up to the highest level in racing, road, test driving (for magazines, some very serious brand names).

He does his 'limit handling' course at Bruntingthorpe.

As a measure - he has a little circuit. When I arrived it took me 51 seconds. Two ten minute sessions with Don my balance of the car was COMPLETELY different and I did it in 45 seconds. That is a huge improvement.

On such a short tight course I could not spend enough money modifiying the car to get such a time improvement.

Really excellent, completely unassuming and no ego.

His only downside is that in general he thinks Evos are better set up than Scoobs although the Spec C was a surprise to him.

Other two cars on the day were a 911 GT3 and an M3 (which was not that great to be honest!).
