Anybody live near the M6 and the A449 Dunston Stafford ??
#1
The reason for the question is there is a Gatso at the end of this road. The road is a dual carriage way and just before the M6 which is 60 MPH, all I need to know is if the 40MPH signs which were not clearly visible until after the Gatso late at night are obstructed or the lights on the signs have failed as the 3 cars behind me all got done as well and they were a way behind me. If there is a problem I will be straight down there with a camera and a solicitor. I was not flying as I had the farther in law in the car with me who has a broken shoulder and is in a great deal of pain, any help would be appreciated as it,s the first time in 8 years I have had a clean licence.
Help Darren.

Hi Darren
If you were coming along A449 towards Dunston and M6 from Penkridge , a couple of points.
1. It is not dual carriageway.
2. From memory a 40 Sign is visible well before Dunston by the well lit building on the left ( Leigh Environmental ) don't think it is covered.
3. The road bends to the left before Dunston and you may not have seen the 40 sign due to concentrating on the road.
If you need things confirming I will take a drive along their next weekend.
Hope that helps

I would be very grateful if you could as I was coming towards the M6 from the M54 and saw no 40 signs until after the Gatso. The road at that point is very poorly sign posted and light at that point and I was looking for the junction for the M6 and getting round the corners.
Cheers Darren.

Will do mate , I use the road about once or twice a month and nearly always forget about the gatso.
There is a school and a church just in the village ( to the left ) and there have been one or two accidents there hence the Gatso's
There is another gatso coming the other way, about 200 yards down from the M6 as well.
Regards

Sorry for delay in getting back to you.
Just done the road
As you approach from Penkridge...
Large 40 Sign on left hand side of road, the verge is quite wide and no trees , hedges , lamposts obscuring view.
100 - 150 Yards further on is Speed Camera Sign
200 - 300 Yards further on Dunston Sign Post and Gatso hidden by tree branches.
One small point is that it is on descending left hand bend, and the first lamp
post is on right hand side of road about 30 - 40 foot after, so the sign would
have been in darkness against a backdrop of trees / buildings.
Hope that helps.
