What's that chirping noise on the wrc cars ??
What's that chirping / squeaking noise on the wrc cars when they are slowing for bends, etc ??
I remember a long time ago someone told me it was the dry plate clutches (or something like that), or is it waste gate chatter (something I know nothing about) ??

I was going to post "wastegate chatter" just for a laugh, especially after the last thread.

A little birdy tells me that the noise is actually the driver.
It's a new invention by the rally teams: every time the driver takes his foot of the throttle, a spike (operated by an ingenious solenoid) shoots through the seat, causing the driver to make 'chirpy noises'.

I heard each wheel of the AWD beast is powered by hamsters (the inside of the wheels being their runners).
The chirping noise is just the hamsters screeching as they gasp for air...
Bless their little rally legs

They don't use hamsters, they use pixies.

You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has Rallies. And those Rallies have to be driven by men with cars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, what would scooby do? Hamsters have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Hamsters and you curse the Pixies. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Hamster deaths, in the wheels of rally cars, while tragic, probably saves lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...

At the moment I only have room for one hamster (called Larry) in my wastegate chatterbox but it's not very loud (larry does what he can)I have plans to extend and find Larry a mate.

So these hamsters, are they russian or syrian?
Do they alternate between syrian and russian to get the effect of AWD??
So when one wheel loses traction the speedy russian takes a break, refuels on sunflour seeds and nitrous lettice while the syrian jumps in, spins that wheel for all his little might (which is slow as we are talking the rodent equivalent of rick waller in there!) and as soon as traction is returned the refueled and super-fast russian hamster jumps on in again.
What would a good performance upgrade be from a russian hamster powered impreza???!

no no no no no no no no your all so wrong, the noise is as follows,
each time the driver takes his foot of the pedal to change gear or slow down the ventrical forge pin moves in an upward direction, now each time this moves it causes the giggle pin to laugh, now as well all know knock sensor's listen to everything going on in the engine when they hear the giggle pins laughter that is caused by the ventrical forge pin moving they give out a little squeak just to let the driver know that everything is ok and he can slam his foot down again
