Question Front driving/fog lights?????

As we all know the classic impreza has big front driving/fog lights. My question is are these driving lights or front fog lights and what does the law say about them?

It was manufactured with fog lamps (unless its a P1); perhaps your has been retro fitted with more useful spot lamps?.

People are in the habit of calling fog lamps 'driving lights' which is mistaken. maybe its to justify driving around with them on like a ****? For the hard of thinking; theres an illuminated tell-tale (fog) warning lamp in the cockpit.....

Highway Code...

201: You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves

211: You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 201) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves.

Fogs for visibility below 100m (real fog or falling snow), not to make your Peugeot look sporty

Driving Lights must be used in conjunction with the main beam, but be independently switched.

Nice to see someone quoting facts for a change

Apparently the above doesn't apply to BMW owners though

A much more effective deterrent than a £35 fine would be the placing of a mandatory sign atop offenders cars reading "I am a c**k".

The PIAA lights are slightly different, they're drivng lights. They come on with high beam. And shouldn't be used where there is on coming taffic.

I'd like to see trivial violations which are constantly breached with flagrant disregard by the intelectually challenged met with a more punitive penalty. 500 pounds for misuse of foglights, the same for mobile phone use and forgetting the seatbelt. Smoking should be banned in the front seats too. I bet there wouldn't be too many chavs would fall foul before the message got through

You can tell if you have PIAA it makes the road ahead look like daylight for about three times the distance your normal headlights do. Really allows you to use the car's performance at night and I worthwhile upgrade.

From a distance you can't really tell the difference between by PIAA and std fog lights but the if you want to get **** the markings on the lens tell which is which so you want be able to pull the wool of plod when he pulls you.
