Default FLAT BATTERY in 03 WRX

I am borrowing my son's account temporarily as I need best advice for sorting things out as it is 5.20 on Saturday of the Bank Holiday weekend with no assistance available.

Basically I must have left my interior lights on in my 03 WRX for about 48 hours. STUPID I know. I have just found out as the remote key won't work to get into the car.

What is the best course of action to get into the car and sort out the battery, as I will need to disalarm the alarm if I just use the key?

Please can I have quick responses from anyone with the best ideas.

Thanks a lot.

John

Use the key in the drivers door.
Open the bonnet and put the battery on charge.

I don't think they have a battery back-up, so it wont.
Do it now anyway before it gets late!

dont be fooled by the alarm it will go off same happened to my03 sti and amazingly the alarm still goes off it has a backup battery somewhere all i did with mine was jump start it and take it for a good run with the sidelights on as this helps to charge the battery because of the smart alternator whice is pretty stupid

A neighbour and I trued to push the car to bump start it, nothing. Then we tried the jump leads connected to my sport. The alarm went off with in 5 sec of the leads being connected and within 10 sec the car was started. He has now gone off with the side lights on to charge up the battery.

Would it be wise to get a new battery on tuesday?

Just see how it goes. I did a similar thing with my WRX03 and although it started after the battery being charged for about an hour and then taking it for a run the batteries on 03's are common to fail. Usually its a white battery with a black top. If you have access to Costco a Bosch 6DA fits without a problem and will set you back approx £40.

Andy.
