Question MY06 overheating???

A couple of times now i have noticed after a short run (4 miles 30 mph max speed) from cold, at night, the cooling fan cuts in and its like standing next to a blow heater is this normal for an 06? as its never happened with any of my past scoobys! temp gauge says ok.

Do you have the air con on? I've noticed mine will use the fan for the aircon to cool it quicker (04 though)

Yep mine 01 is the same. If you have the aircon on the fan kicks in to cool the condensor when you're at a standstill.

Hi, my06 sti. I also worried a little about the cooling fan coming on within the time it took me to drive into an opened garage and checking i was in ok. even though the air temp has increased since i bought the car in January the cooling fan is coming on later now, due to the car running in (5000M) is what in my opinion is to blame. i've read somewere that the temp gauge dose not alter around normal running temps like some other makes only when temps become too high. rising in stages rather than linear, my mazda was the same.
